Intrinsic factor secretion in gastric atrophy.

چکیده
EDITORIAL SYNOPSIS The appearance of the gastric biopsy histologically has been correlated with assay of the intrinsic factor and acid content of the gastric juice, and also with vitamin B12 absorption studies. The loss of intrinsic factor parallels the loss of gastric secretory cells. The assay of intrinsic factor proved a better index of secretory capacity of the mucosa than either acid production or vitamin B12 absorption.

Altered gastric chief cell lineage differentiation in histamine-deficient mice.
The orderly differentiation of cell lineages within gastric glands is regulated by a complicated interplay of local mucosal growth factors and hormones. Histamine secreted from enterochromaffin-like cells plays an important role in not only stimulated gastric acid secretion but also coordination of intramucosal growth and lineage differentiation. We have examined histidine-decarboxylase (HDC)-d...

The secretion of gastric intrinsic factor was studied in normal subjects and in hospital patients. A considerable amount of intrinsic factor was present in gastric juice secreted in the absence of any stimulant, and this amount was normally far in excess of that required for the absorption of dietary vitamin B12' Histamine and insulin were equally effective as stimulants of gastric-intrinsic-fa...
متن کاملsecretion of hydrochloric acid in patients with atrophic gastritis
it is now well known that chronic atrophic gastritis may occur in patients who do not have Addisonian pernicious anaemia, and that the histological appearance of the gastric mucosa in patients with and without pernicious anaemia may be indistinguishable. In fact there is no pathognomonic histological gastric lesion in pernicious anaemia (Magnus, 1958; Williams, Coghill, and Edwards, 1958). Furt...

متن کاملEstimation of intrinsic factor and detection of intrinsic factor antibodies using non-radioactive cyanocobalamin and microbiological assay.
A method employing non-radioactive vitamin B(12) and microbiological assay is described for estimating intrinsic factor in gastric juice and for detecting antibody to intrinsic factor in serum. Satisfactory agreement was obtained between the results by this method and by a modification of the method of Ardeman and Chanarin (1963). During the first hour after gastric stimulation 11 patients with...
