چکیده
the discovery of x-rays by Roentgen and radium by the Curies, the first patient was treated with therapeutic x-rays. During the first few decades of the 20th century, the use of radiation increased significantly. The earliest uses of therapeutic radiation often involved treating gynecologic malignancies. Over the next one hundred years, radiation therapy became one of the integral treatment approaches for many cancers. Currently, it is an important therapeutic component in the management of many gynecologic malignancies, including cancers of the uterine cervix, uterine corpus, vulva and vagina.

Enhancing and verification of dose in external radiation therapy using Gd nanoparticles as a theranostic agent: A Monte Carlo simulation study
Introduction: Theranostics, in particular, the use of radionuclides with the capability of simultaneous imaging and treatment has opened new horizons in personalized treatment planning of targeted radiation therapy. In this approach, positive beta or gamma emitters are required for imaging and alpha, beta and Auger electrons for treatment purpose. On the other hand, studies hav...

In recent years remarkable progress has been made towards the understanding of proposed hallmarks of cancer development and treatment. However with its increasing incidence, the clinical management of cancer continues to be a challenge for the 21st century. Treatment modalities comprise of radiation therapy, surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and hormonal therapy. Radiation therapy remains an...
متن کاملThe current status and future of theranostic Copper-64 radiopharmaceuticals
Copper-64 was produced in large scales and high specific activities in late 1990s’ using compact cyclotrons based by 64Ni(p,n)64Cu reaction and many radiopharmaceuticals developed since then by various groups based on interesting physicochemical and nuclear properties of the radionuclide. The unique emission of beta particles as well as positron particles offers a spectacu...

Recent advances have improved the effectiveness, decreased the complications, and expanded the implications of radiation therapy. These advances include three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy, intensity-modulated radiation therapy, stereotactic radiotherapy, brachytherapy, and radioimmunotherapy. Each of these modalities has improved radiation targeting, thereby limiting radiation exposu...
متن کاملDifferent Radiotherapy Methods: A Review
Cancer is one of the principal causes of mortality in the modern world. There are different treatment methods available for cancer such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and hormone therapy. About 40% of all cancer patients receive radiotherapy during their illness for treatment or for local control or symptomatic palliation. In clinical radiation oncology, the final aim is to attain unco...

Introduction: Radiation-induced cardiovascular damage is a potential side effect of radiation therapy in patients with left-sided breast cancer. This prospective study compares the severity and reversibility of perfusion and functional abnormalities before, and six months after, 3D-Conformal radiation therapy treatment in left-side breast cancer patients with conventional and h...
