چکیده

We propose a unified framework which combines a novel color representation, i.e. spatial color descriptors, and a post-refinement process to detect various types of shot boundaries, including abrupt shot changes, flashlights, dissolves, fade-ins and fade-outs. The spatial color descriptor involving color adjacency and color vector angle histograms incorporates spatial information into color representation and provides robust performance in shot boundary detection. Moreover, a motionbased post-refinement process is developed to effectively eliminate false positives in gradual transition detection, where rapid camera motion or object movement may lead to performance degradation. Experimental results show that these two techniques are integrated seamlessly to give satisfactory performance and present the robustness of spatial color descriptors.

Video shot boundary detection using motion activity descriptor

This paper focus on the study of the motion activity descriptor for shot boundary detection in video sequences. We interest in the validation of this descriptor in the aim of its real time implementation with reasonable high performances in shot boundary detection. The motion activity information is extracted in uncompressed domain based on adaptive rood pattern search (ARPS) algorithm. In this...

An unified framework for shot boundary detection via active learning

Video shot boundary detection is an important step in many video processing applications. We observe that video shot boundary is a multi-resolution edge phenomenon in the feature space. In this paper, we expanded our previous temporal multi-resolution analysis (TMRA) work by introducing the new feature vector based on motion. Further we employ the support vector machine (SVM) to refine the clas...

Compressed Domain Features Extraction for Shot Characterization

In this work, we propose a system for shot comparison directly working on the MPEG-1 stream in the compressed domain, extracting both color, texture and motion features considering all frames with a reasonable computational cost, and results comparable to those obtained on uncompressed keyframes. In particular a summary descriptor for each Group Of Pictures (GOP) is computed and employed for sh...

A neural network approach to key frame extraction

We present a neural network based approach to key frame extraction in the compressed domain. The proposed method is an amalgamation of both the MPEG-7 descriptors namely motion intensity descriptor and spatial activity descriptor. Shot boundary detection and block motion estimation techniques are employed prior to the extraction of the descriptors. The motion intensity (“pace of action”) is obt...

Feature Tracking for Cut Detection

Recently, investigation into shot boundary detection schemes has gathered much momentum [20-29]. Cut detection is seemingly easily solved by an elementary statistical examination of inter-frame characteristics; however a truly accurate and generalized cut detection algorithm still eludes researchers. Reliable shot boundary detection forms the cornerstone for video segmentation applications as s...
