Cleaning of Municipal Waste Incinerator Flue Gas in Europe

چکیده
The paper discusses the various methods used in Europe to reduce emissions of pollutants from the stack gases of municipal incinerators. With respect to NOx, the paper mentions two experimental postcombustion control approaches involving the addition of chemicals to the wet-scrubber system to oxidize or reduce the NOx to absorbable NO 2 or dischargeable N 2. As pointed out , these methods would be expensive. Recently, a postcombustion treatment involving chemical injection into the flue gas stream upstream of the scrubbers has been demonstrated in a Swiss municipal incinerator. As described in Ref. [1], the process involves the injection of an aqueous solution of urea and/ or other chemicals into the boiler effluent stream at several different levels. These chemicals react with the flue gas producing N 2, CO2 and H20. NH3

Integrated municipal solid waste treatment using a grate furnace incinerator: the Indaver case.
An integrated installation for treatment of municipal solid waste and comparable waste from industrial origin is described. It consists of three grate furnace lines with flue gas treatment by half-wet scrubbing followed by wet scrubbing, and an installation for wet treatment of bottom ash. It is demonstrated that this integrated installation combines high recovery of energy (40.8% net) with hig...
متن کاملLCA to choose among alternative design solutions: the case study of a new Italian incineration line.
At international level LCA is being increasingly used to objectively evaluate the performances of different Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) management solutions. One of the more important waste management options concerns MSW incineration. LCA is usually applied to existing incineration plants. In this study LCA methodology was applied to a new Italian incineration line, to facilitate the predictio...
متن کاملCombustion and Heat Calculations for Incinerators
The design of industrial and municipal incinerators is based on combustion and heat considerationsl The procedures are given for calculating the quantities of air, flue gas, water and heat, as well as the gas temper atures. To assist the reader, a municipal incinerator is used as an example. The relation between refuse analysis and flue gas analysis is explained. Sections on dry and wet dust c...

The influence of gaseous ammonia and sulphur dioxide on the formation of 2378-substituted PCDD/F on a reference flyash from a municipal waste incinerator has been investigated using a laboratory scale fixed-bed reactor. The reference flyash samples (BCR-490) was reacted under a simulated flue gas stream at temperatures of 225 and 375°C for 96h. The experiments were carried out in two series: fi...
متن کاملUtilisation of two-stage waste incinerator bottom ash as a cement substitute in concrete
Waste incineration still seems to be an essential technology in the concept of integrated waste management. However, the desirable quantity of waste incineration residue needs to be as low as possible. Therefore, related optimization of two-stage waste incineration technology has been performed with the main goal of producing lower amounts of boiler ash, fly ash and flue gas-treatment residue, ...
