چکیده

Popliteal artery entrapment (PAE) is an uncommon syndrome. Although this phenomenon can cause claudication in younger populations, other clinical features may vary. The present report describes a case of a 48-year-old woman who was referred for treatment of a pulsatile mass in the right popliteal fossa. Computed tomography scan and magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated popliteal aneurysm associated with PAE. Resection of abnormal musculotendinous structures, aneurysmectomy and subsequent revascularization were successfully performed. Although PAE may lead to poststenotic dilatation and aneurysm formation, huge aneurysm without clinical signs of ischemia in a patient with PAE is extremely rare.Popliteal artery entrapment (PAE) is an uncommon syndrome. MRI and DSA findings in popliteal artery entrapment syndrome.

PURPOSE To evaluate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) findings in popliteal artery entrapment syndrome. MATERIALS AND METHODS Seven limbs of 6 patients (5 men and 1 woman; mean age, 36 +/- 12 years) with popliteal artery entrapment syndrome were evaluated retrospectively. Both MRI and DSA were performed on each affected limb. RESULTS MRI findings est...

Popliteal Artery Entrapment Syndrome: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

BACKGROUND Popliteal artery entrapment syndrome (PAES) results from an anomalous relationship between the popliteal artery and the myofascial structures of the popliteal fossa. The most common presenting symptoms include intermittent pain in the feet and calves on exercise, resulting in lameness. PAES can lead to popliteal artery thrombosis, stenosis, distal arterial thromboembolism, or arteria...

Long-term follow-up of patients with popliteal artery entrapment syndrome treated by endoluminal revascularization.

The popliteal artery entrapment syndrome (PAES), a rare cause for leg ischemia, is usually treated by surgical removal of the compressing structure and either venous bypass or interposition graft. However, endovascular revascularization followed by surgery to release the artery has been reported as a feasible alternative. So far long-term results of this approach are not known. We report the fo...

Uncommon Diseases of The Popliteal Artery: A Pictorial Review

Uncommon diseases of the popliteal artery include cystic adventitial disease, popliteal artery entrapment syndrome (PAES) and popliteal artery aneurysm (PAA). Because all of these conditions may present with pain or intermittent claudication, imaging is crucial for differentiating them and directing management. Delayed diagnosis can lead to major complications, including acute limb ischemia. Ou...

Popliteal Artery Entrapment Syndrome Presenting with Acute Limb Ischaemia: A Case Report

Popliteal artery entrapment syndrome (PAES) is a relatively rare condition that occurs in young patients as a result of anomalous anatomic relationships between the popliteal artery and the surrounding musculotendinous structures. Patients usually lack atherogenic risk factors and most commonly present with intermittent claudication in the early stages. In the later stages of undiagnosed PAES, ...
