Graphene: Here comes graphane? : Article : Nature Chemistry

چکیده
Another possible modification, which has been predicted theoretically, is the addition of hydrogen atoms to graphene — creating 'graphane' — altering the sp2 carbon atoms to sp3 and thus changing the structure and electronic properties. Now Andre Geim from the University of Manchester and co-workers from Russia and the Netherlands have hydrogenated mechanically exfoliated graphene by exposing it to hydrogen plasma1. The electronic properties of the new material change markedly: the highly conductive graphene is converted from a semimetal into an insulator.

Graphane versus graphene: a computational investigation of the interaction of nucleobases, aminoacids, heterocycles, small molecules (CO2, H2O, NH3, CH4, H2), metal ions and onium ions.
Graphane has emerged as a two-dimensional hydrocarbon with interesting physical properties and potential applications. Understanding the interaction of graphane with various molecules and ions is crucial to appreciate its potential applications. We investigated the interaction of nucleobases, aminoacids, saturated and unsaturated heterocycles, small molecules, metal ions and onium ions with gra...

First-principles calculations demonstrate that line/ribbon defects, resulting from a controlled dehydrogenation in graphane, lead to the formation of low-dimensional electron-rich tracks in a monolayer. The present simulations point out that hybrid graphane-graphene nanostructures exhibit important elements, greatly required for the fabrication of efficient electronic circuits at the atomic level.

We report a new route to prepare high quality, monolayer graphene by the dehydrogenation of graphane-like film grown by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition. Large-area monolayer graphane-like film is first produced by remote-discharged radio frequency plasma beam deposition at 650 °C on Cu/Ti-coated SiO(2)-Si. The advantages of the plasma deposition include very short deposition time (<5 ...
متن کاملGraphene’s cousin: the present and future of graphane
The so-called graphane is a fully hydrogenated form of graphene. Because it is fully hydrogenated, graphane is expected to have a wide bandgap and is theoretically an electrical insulator. The transition from graphene to graphane is that of an electrical conductor, to a semiconductor, and ultimately to an electrical insulator. This unique characteristic of graphane has recently gained both acad...
متن کاملMetal-Insulator Transition from Graphene to Graphane
Graphane is obtained by perfectly hydrogenating graphene. There exists an intermediate material, partially hydrogenated graphene (which we call hydrographene), interpolating from pure graphene to pure graphane. Employing a graph theoretical approach to the site-percolation model, we present an intuitive and physical picture revealing a percolation transition from graphene to graphane. It is dem...
