Chemical information processing with excitation pulses

چکیده
Spatially distributed chemical excitable systems can work as information processing media in which information is coded in pulses of excitation [1, 2, 3, 4]. In some cases, like for example in the search for the optimum path in a labyrinth, the galgorithmsh used by a chemical medium is the most efficient. Feeling links between the processes of thinking in living organisms and the properties of interacting pulses in simple chemical systems we do research in the field.

Droplets with Information Processing Ability
Nonlinear chemical medium can be used to perform information processing functions. In typical applications information is coded in excitation pulses and required operations are performed by interaction of pulses forced by intentionally introduced geometrical structure of the medium. Here we describe a structured system that seems promising for information processing. It is composed of droplets,...
متن کاملEPR-correlated dipolar spectroscopy by Q-band chirp SIFTER.
While two-dimensional correlation spectra contain more information as compared to one-dimensional spectra, typical spectral widths encountered in electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy largely restrict the applicability of correlation techniques. In essence, the monochromatic excitation pulses established in pulsed EPR often cannot uniformly excite the entire spectrum. Here, this re...
متن کاملOne Dimensional Signal Diodes Constructed with Excitable Chemical System
Excitable chemical system can process information coded in excitation pulses. Here we discuss the simplest realization of a chemical signal diode that transmits pulses in one direction only. The construction of such diode just requires a geometrical combination of three areas characterized by different excitability. The proposed construction of chemical signal diode has been tested in numerical...
متن کاملCoherent Control of Stationary Light Pulses 1
We present a detailed analysis of the recently demonstrated technique to generate quasi-stationary pulses of light [M. Bajcsy et al., Nature (London) 426, 638 (2003)] based on electromagnetically induced transparency. We show that the use of counterpropagating control fields to retrieve a light pulse, previously stored in a collective atomic Raman excitation, leads to quasi-stationary light fie...
متن کاملReliable nanometre-range distance distributions from 5-pulse double electron electron resonance.
Double electron electron resonance (DEER) enables determination of distance distributions in the nanometre range. A recently introduced 5-pulse version of this experiment prolongs the electron spin coherence lifetime and thus provides improved sensitivity or an extended distance range, but suffers from artefacts due to partial excitation and excitation band overlap. In particular, the partial e...
