چکیده
Cooperative diversity has emerged as a promising technique to combat fading in wireless communications (Sendonaris et. al., 2003a; Sendonaris et. al., 2003b). It is based on the broadcast nature of the wireless medium and enables single-antenna users to “enjoy” space diversity benefits by sharing their physical resources through a virtual transmit and/or receive antenna array. The basic relay channel model is comprised of three terminals: a source that transmits information, a destination that receives information, and a relay that both receives and transmits information in order to enhance communication between the source and the destination (Lai et al., 2006). Models with multiple relays have been also examined which can be regarded as an extension of this basic configuration (Azarian et. al., 2005; Kramer et. al., 2005; Ribeiro et. al., 2005; Yang & Belfiore, 2007; Fan et. al., 2007). Since the work of Sendonaris et al. (2003a, 2003b) that introduced the notion of cooperative diversity, a number of AbstrAct

A Comparative Study of Amplify-and-Forward and Zero-Forcing Relaying with Different Power Constraints
Cooperating nodes in wireless networks need to be power-efficient because once they deployed, as in sensor networks, they might not be recharged or replaced. The choice of relaying technique, therefore, becomes a crucial design parameter. Our work provides a detailed comparative performance analysis of amplify-and-forward and zeroforcing relaying. Our results give valuable insights into the rob...

متن کاملA Simple Amplify-and-Forward Relaying Scheme Based on Clipping and Forwarding for Dual-Hop Transmissions
In this paper, we propose a simple relaying protocol, namely clip-amplify-forward (CAF), for dual-hop transmissions. In the CAF relaying protocol, the received signal at the relay node is clipped firstly and then amplified with a fixed amplification gain before retransmission. Only a hard clipper and a linear amplifier are needed at the relay node, where no channel estimation is needed. Simulat...
متن کاملThreshold-based hybrid relay selection and power allocation scheme
To minimize total transmit power in a system while guaranteeing the outage probability at the same time in a cooperative system, we propose and analyse two threshold-based hybrid relay selection and power allocation schemes for a threenode cooperative relaying system. They are designated as: the hybrid amplify-direct-forward relaying (HADF) and incremental hybrid decode-direct-forward relaying ...
