چکیده

The prognostic value of nucleated red blood cell count at birth in relation to neonatal outcome has been established. However, reference values were needed to usefully interpret this variable. The normal range of reference values for absolute nucleated red blood cell count in 695 preterm and term newborns is reported.

Assessment of Umbilical Cord Nucleated Red Blood Cell Count in Discharged and Dead Very Low Birth Weight Infants

Background: Predictive value of the umbilical nucleated red blood cells (NRBCs) at birth for neonatal outcomes has been assessed. Hence, the present study was conducted to compare NRBC between discharged and dead neonates. Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on preterm newborns with a birth weight of < 1,500 g admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Ghaem Hospital, Ma...

ارتباط گلبول‎های قرمز هسته‏دار خون بندناف نوزاد با الگوی غیرطبیعی ضربان قلب جنین

Background: The presence of increased numbers of nucleated red blood cell (NRBC) in the umbilical cord blood has been associated with states of relative hypoxia. Nucleated red blood cell counts are a potentially useful tool in estimating the degree and timing of intrauterine hypoxia. This may have important implication in determining causality in case of compromised infant. Cord blood NRBC coun...

Nucleated red blood cells count as first prognostic marker for adverse neonatal outcome in severe preeclamptic pregnancies.

The purpose of this study was to determine acceptability of the nucleated red blood cells counts (NRBC) as early prognostic parameter for adverse outcome in preterm neonates born from pregnancies complicated with severe preeclampsia. We analysed 77 premature newborns who were born from pregnancies with severe preeclampsia during eight years (2004-2011) in our tertiary center. Women with other p...

Carnitine concentrations in term and preterm newborns at birth and during the first days of life.

Carnitine plays an important role in energetic metabolism. The aim of the study was to characterize the carnitine status in term and preterm newborns with respect to gestational age, birth weight, haematocrit and red blood cell count (RBC). The effect of nutrition on carnitine levels in the first week of life was also studied. Total blood pool of free carnitine (FC), acylcarnitines (AC) and tot...

Reference values of blood cell counts in the first days of life.

The lack of updated neonatal reference values for hematological parameters impacts significantly with clinical management of both healthy and sick newborns. The present pilot study was thus aimed at assessing updated hematological Italian reference values in late preterm and term newborns. From January 2004 to December 2008 hematological laboratory tests were performed in 1175 newborns (820 hea...
