چکیده

The design of programs for broadcast disks which incorporate real-time and fault-tolerance requirements is considered. A generalized model for real-time fault-tolerant broadcast disks is de ned. It is shown that designing programs for broadcast disks speci ed in this model is closely related to the scheduling of pinwheel task systems. Some new results in pinwheel scheduling theory are derived, which facilitate the e cient generation of realtime fault-tolerant broadcast disk programs.

Real-Time Mutable Broadcast Disks

There is an increased interest in using broadcast disks to support mobile access to realtime databases. However, previous work has only considered the design of real-time immutable broadcast disks, the contents of which do not change over time. This paper considers the design of programs for real-time mutable broadcast disks | broadcast disks whose contents are occasionally updated. Recent sche...

Scheduling Real-Time Data Items In Multiple Channels And Multiple Receivers Environments

Previous researches on broadcast scheduling assume that once a client generates a request, this request will not be discarded until it is satisfied. However, if a client needs the traffic information to decide which road to drive, he must receive the response before he reaches the crossroad. Some recent works begin to address the transmission of the real-time database. The pinwheel scheduling p...

AIDA-based real-time fault-tolerant broadcast disks

The proliferation of mobile computers and wireless networks requires the design of future distributed real-time applications to recognize and deal with the significant asymmetry between downstream and upstream communication capacities, and the significant disparity between server and client storage capacities. Recent work proposed the use of Broadcast Disks as a scalable mechanism to deal with ...

Implementation of a Fault-Tolerant Real-Time Network-Attached Storage Device

Phoenix is a fault-tolerant real-time network-attached storage device (NASD). Like other NASD architectures, Phoenix provides an object-based interface to data stored on network-attached disks. In addition, it features many functionalities not available in other NASDs. Phoenix supports both best-effort reads/writes and real-time disk read accesses required to support real-time multimedia applic...
