چکیده
Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) was extracted from parotid gland tumors with phenol. The injection of this DNA into 24-hour to 1-week-old AKR mice resulted in a 65 per cent incidence of parotid tumors and/or epithelioid thymomas. Oncogenic properties of the DNA preparation were abolished by incubation with deoxyribonuclease. Cell-free filtrates of the parotid tumors inoculated into suckling AKR mice did not result in the development of parotid gland neoplasms or thymomas. It cannot be stated definitely from these experiments whether the oncogenic proper ties demonstrated are the result of transformation of normal cells by tumor cell nucleic acid or the result of the activity of infectious polyoma virus DNA.

was demonstrated that deoxyribonucleic acid extracted from mouse parotid gland tumors and inoculated into newborn AKR mice resulted in a high incidence of these tumors and epithelioid thymomas in animals of 3—4months of age. The oncogenic properties of the nucleic acid were abolished by incubation with deoxyribonuclease but not by ribonuclease. It was not clear from these studies whether the ...

متن کاملThe Diagnostic Value of B-Mode Sonography in Differentiation of Malignant and Benign Tumors of the Parotid Gland
Introduction: Different imaging modalities are used to evaluate salivary gland diseases, including tumors. Ultrasonography (US) is the preferred method on account of its ease of use, affordability, safety profile, and good tolerance among patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of US in differentiating malignant from benign parotid tumors, in the context of previous controversy...

Introduction: Background: Radiotherapy of parotid tumors is achieved by different radiotherapy techniques. So they deliver the dose to organs at risk such as contralateral parotid, temporal lobe & spinal cord. The consequences of high dose to OARs are xerostomia, Temporal lobe necrosis and loss of hearing. Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare different treatment tech...
متن کاملBasal Cell Adenoma of the Parotid Gland: A Case Report and Review of the Literature
Salivary gland tumors are among the pathologies in the head and neck that may be challenging in diagnosis and treatment. Most benign tumors occur in the parotid gland. Pleomorphic Adenoma is the most common type. Basal Cell Adenoma is a subtype of the Monomorphic Adenoma with rare occurrence. Proper diagnosis and clinical evaluation by the use of radiography can lead the physician to the best t...
