چکیده

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which is the fifth most common cancer and the third leading cause of cancerrelated death worldwide, is a global health problem. The estimated annual number of cases exceeds 600 000, and over 55% occur in China (Parkin et al., 2005). Many types of treatment are performed for HCC, but curative resection is still the first choice. The largest challenge for HCC treatment is recurrence after curative resection therapy (Perry et al., 2007). The five-year survival rate was

Risk Factors for Recurrence of HCC without Macrovascular Invasion after Curative Resection

HCC is the sixth most common malignancies worldwide (Parkin et al., 2005) and its incidence is continuous increasing recently (El-Serag et al., 1999). Surgical resection is regarded as a potentially curative treatment for patients with HCC and it has become a safe operation with very low morbidity and mortality rates because of the improvement in surgical techniques and perioperative management...

Prognosis in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma correlates to mutations of p53 and/or hMSH2 genes.

Association of gene alterations and prognosis has not fully been elucidated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). To clarify the relationship between p53 and hMSH2 mutations and prognosis, we analysed these mutations in 83 HCC cases and assessed their association with various clinicopathological factors. The 3-year disease-free survival (DFS) or overall survival (OS) rates in HCC patients with p53...

Intrahepatic Tissue Implantation Represents a Favorable Approach for Establishing Orthotopic Transplantation Hepatocellular Carcinoma Mouse Models

Mouse models are commonly used for studying hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) biology and exploring new therapeutic interventions. Currently three main modalities of HCC mouse models have been extensively employed in pre-clinical studies including chemically induced, transgenic and transplantation models. Among them, transplantation models are preferred for evaluating in vivo drug efficacy in pre-...

Adjuvant therapy after curative resection for hepatocellular carcinoma associated with hepatitis virus.

The outcome after curative resection for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is still unsatisfactory because of the high rate of recurrence of HCC, including intrahepatic metastasis originating from the primary carcinoma and multicentric carcinogenesis after surgery. The rate of recurrence, particularly of multicentric carcinogenesis after surgery, is affected by persistent active hepatitis and hepa...

Expression profiling in hepatocellular carcinoma with intrahepatic metastasis: identification of high-mobility group I(Y) protein as a molecular marker of hepatocellular carcinoma metastasis.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common and aggressive human malignancies. Its high mortality rate is mainly a result of intra-hepatic metastases. To investigate the detailed genetic mechanisms in cancer metastasis, we compared the expression profiles of 20 HCCs with intrahepatic metastasis and 10 HCCs without intrahepatic metastasis using an oligonucleotide array. Of the appro...
