Vacuum polarization effects in hyperon rich dense matter – a nonperturbative treatment

چکیده
We derive the equation of state (EOS) for electrically charge neutral dense matter using Quantum Hadrodynamics (QHD) model. This is carried out in a nonperturbative manner including quantum corrections for baryons through a realignment of vacuum with baryon-antibaryon condensates. This yields the results of relativistic Hartree approximation of summing over baryonic tadpole diagrams. The quantum corrections from the scalar meson is also taken into account in a similar way. This leads to a softening of the equation of state for the hyperonic matter. The formalism also allows us to do a self consistent calculation of the in-medium sigma meson mass. The effects of such quantum corrections on the composition of charge neutral dense matter is considered. The effect of the resulting EOS on the structure of the neutron email: [email protected]

Neutrinos from Protoneutron Stars: a Probe of Hot and Dense Matter Sanjay Reddy and Madappa Prakash
Neutrino processes in dense matter play a key role in the dynamics, deleptonization and the early cooling of hot protoneutron stars formed in the gravitational collapse of massive stars. Here we calculate neutrino mean free paths from neutrino-hyperon interactions in dense matter containing hyperons. Significant contributions to the neutrino opacity arise from scattering involving the Σ− hypero...
متن کاملStructure of the vacuum in nuclear matter: A nonperturbative approach
We compute the vacuum polarization correction to the binding energy of nuclear matter in the Walecka model using a nonperturbative approach. We first study such a contribution as arising from a ground-state structure with baryon-antibaryon condensates. This yields the same results as obtained through the relativistic Hartree approximation of summing tadpole diagrams for the baryon propagator. S...

The optimized δ-expansion is used to study vacuum polarization effects in the Walecka model. The optimized δ-expansion is a nonperturbative approach for field theoretic models which combines the techniques of perturbation theory and the variational principle. Vacuum effects on self-energies and the energy density of nuclear matter are studied up to O(δ 2). When exchange diagrams are neglected, ...

The role of hypernuclear physics for the physics of neutron stars is delineated. Hypernuclear potentials in dense matter control the hyperon composition of dense neutron star matter. The three-body interactions of nucleons and hyperons determine the stiffness of the neutron star equation of state and thereby the maximum neutron star mass. Two-body hyperon-nucleon and hyperon-hyperon interaction...

The phase diagram of nuclear matter offers fascinating features for heavy ion physics and astrophysics when extended to strangeness and antimatter. We will discuss some regions of this phase diagram as strange matter at zero temperature, hypermatter at high densities and the antiworld at high densities and strangeness fraction. 1 Strange Matter and Hypermatter Relativistic heavy ion collisions ...
