چکیده

Trust and reputation are vital concepts in multiagent systems where diverse, self-interested agents interact in pursuit of their own goals. While much work to date has focussed on enabling agents to form beliefs about the trustworthiness of potential delegation partners, the problem of deciding to trust on the basis of such beliefs has received relatively little attention. Without a model of trust decision, agents cannot take into account the risks involved in delegation. For example, different candidates may incur different costs, and tasks may offer varying payoffs in case of success or failure. In this paper, we present a decision theoretic model of trust decision which employs probabilistic trust beliefs within a Principal-Agent framework. We show how both agents in a two-party delegation relationship can make use of trust and reputation, as well as implicit reputational incentives, to make decisions about who (and indeed whether) to trust.

Toward Delegated Democracy: Vote by Yourself, or Trust Your Network

The recent development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) enables new ways of "democratic" decision-making such as a page-ranking system, which estimates the importance of a web page based on indirect trust on that page shared by diverse group of unorganized individuals. These kinds of "democracy" have not been acclaimed yet in the world of real politics. On the other hand, a lar...

Trust Decision-Making in Multi-Agent Systems

Trust is crucial in dynamic multi-agent systems, where agents may frequently join and leave, and the structure of the society may often change. In these environments, it may be difficult for agents to form stable trust relationships necessary for confident interactions. Societies may break down when trust between agents is too low to motivate interactions. In such settings, agents should make d...

Efficient Task Sub-Delegation for Crowdsourcing

Reputation-based approaches allow a crowdsourcing system to identify reliable workers to whom tasks can be delegated. In crowdsourcing systems that can be modeled as multi-agent trust networks consist of resource constrained trustee agents (i.e., workers), workers may need to further sub-delegate tasks to others if they determine that they cannot complete all pending tasks before the stipulated...

Delegations and Trust

One of the fundamental notions in a multiagent system is that of delegation. Delegation forms the foundation for cooperation and collaboration among the members of a multiagent system. Delegation decisions in such environments are necess...

Sub - delegation and Trust ( Extended

Trust mechanisms can allow an agent to identify the most trustworthy entity to which a task should be delegated. Now this entity may further delegate the task, ultimately resulting in a delegation chain representing the sub-delegation process. Such delegation chains present a problem for current trust evaluation mechanisms, as they typically which reward or penalise a single agent rather than s...
