چکیده

The oxidation of guanine to an N-oxide and its hydrolysis to a xanthine N-oxide are rejorted. The s.c. administration of the xanthine N-oxide to rats for 6 months resulted in development of a variety of tumors. There were 1 liposarcoma, 3 fibrosarcomas, 1 nmmmary adenocarcinoma, 3 fibrohlastic tumors, 2 rhabdomyosarcomas, and 1 epideiinoid carcinoma at the site of injection and elsewhere in 11 out of 13 rats, or an iticidence of 85 @ The 1st measurable tumor appeared at 230 days and the last at 442 days @tfterthe 1st injection of the compound. The guanine N-oxide, injected s.c. for 6 months, but at a lower concentration, in duced 2 fibrosarcomas and 2 fibroblastic tumors in 15 rats; the 1st tumor appeared at 334 days and the last at. 445 days after the 1st injection of the compound. Administration of adenine 1-N-oxide for 6 months failed to produce tumors in any tissues of 13 rats during the experimental period of 15 months. Of 8 tumors induced by the xanthine N-oxide, 7 were transplantable, and serial traits

Dynamic changes in purine catabolism in patients with acute coronary syndrome that underwent percutaneous coronary intervention

Background: Cardiovascular diseases are global problems. They are causes of death in about 43% of people worldwide and may become the most widespread reason of death by 2020. The prognosis is directly dependent to immediate diagnosis and on time treatment. Introduction of new biochemical markers as the early diagnosis of complications after coronary revascularization is very important in this p...

Xanthine, xanthosine and its nucleotides: solution structures of neutral and ionic forms, and relevance to substrate properties in various enzyme systems and metabolic pathways.

The 6-oxopurine xanthine (Xan, neutral form 2,6-diketopurine) differs from the corresponding 6-oxopurines guanine (Gua) and hypoxanthine (Hyp) in that, at physiological pH, it consists of a approximately 1:1 equilibrium mixture of the neutral and monoanionic forms, the latter due to ionization of N(3)-H, in striking contrast to dissociation of the N(1)-H in both Gua and Hyp at higher pH. In xan...

The aim of present experiment was to measure endogenous urinary purine derivatives using feed restriction method, as well as to determine the effect of 4 levels feeding on microbial protein synthesis. The present experiments was conducted by four camels about 326 Kg body weight.  The camels were fed by different level of Atriplex leucoclada (AL), including maintenance, 1.25, 1.5 times of mainte...

A micromethod for the determination of xanthine and guanine in urine.

In the course of investigations involving purine metabolism, it became necessary to obtain a rapid and accurate method for the estimation of various purine bases in small amounts of urine. Existing methods for determining purine bases, e.g. those of Kruger and Schmidt (1) and Hunter and Givens (2), require such large amounts of urine that they could not be used. Attempts to apply Hitchings’ met...

Biosynthesis of riboflavine in Corynebacterium species: the purine precursor.

Corynebacterium species lacks the ability to convert either xanthine or guanine to adenine. This defect and the use of the purine nucleoside antibiotic decoyinine, which blocks the conversion of xanthosine monophosphate --> guanosine monophosphate, permit an experimental design in which the interconversion of purines is largely prevented. Cultures of this organism were grown in the presence of ...
