New Developments in Oxide-coated Cathodes

چکیده

The first of these articles deals with oxide-coated cathodes designed to be loaded with current densities several times higher than ordinary oxide-coated cathodes can withstand, and which yet have a life of a few thousand hours. Although these new cathodes cannot rival the L type of dispenser cathode as regards their permissible current density, they are cheaper and have a lower operating temperature, which removes the problem of insulation between heater and cathode. Where cathode-ray tubes arc used in fully transistorized, battery-fed equipment, such as television receivers, television cameras, oscilloscopes, etc., low power consumption by the heater is an important consideration. The second article concerns an oxide-coated cathode developed for applications of this kind, whose heater consumes only 0.5 W.

Performance of La0.8Sr0.2CoO3 coated NiO as cathodes for molten carbonate fuel cells

La0.8Sr0.2CoO3 was coated on NiO (LSC–NiO) cathodes using a sol–gel method. Dissolution studies in molten Li2CO3 and K2CO3 (62:38 mol%) at 650 8C showed lower Ni dissolution than that of the conventional nickel oxide cathode. Impedance analysis showed that the behavior of the developed cathode is similar to that of nickel oxide. The LSC coated Ni cathode has an over potential of 109 mVat an app...

On the Cold Emission Mechanism of Diamond Coated Tips

A formal implementation of the Fowler-Nodheim equation to emission characteristics of diamond coated cold cathodes gives values of the work function which depend on surface curvature of the coating, thus making it incorrect. Experiments with diamond coated Si tips having different coating radii have shown, that their emissivity depends on the radius of the Si tip rather than on the radius of th...

MOF derived composites for cathode protection: coatings of LiCoO2 from UiO-66 and MIL-53 as ultra-stable cathodes.

A mechanochemical synthetic method of preparing LiCoO2 coated by MOF-derived metal oxide composites is introduced. Mono-dispersed ZrO2 and Al2O3 are applied as protection layers. These composites show 148 mA h g(-1) at a current density of 2325 mA g(-1) and excellent thermal stability (55 °C).
