Streptococcal pharyngitis is most significant disease, and its peak incidence occurs in children, these infections impose the economic burden on the society [2]. The symptoms of streptococcal pharyngitis include a sore throat, pain in swallowing, fever, swollen, and tender lymph nodes in the neck and fatigue [3]. S. pharyngitis oftenly results from direct contact with another person with streptococcal pharyngitis [4]. Asymptomatic carriers can play a role in transmission, particularly during outbreaks. S. pyogen contact large number of virulence factor that’s contributing to its pathogenicity, important virulence factor [5], encoded by emm gene are superantigen protein, and M protein is an important virulence factor of s. pyogenes [6]. superantigens are a potent immune stimulatory activity that contributes to the pathogenesis of Streptococcus pyogens. The gene distribution of sAgs has used as an epidemiologic tool to explore genomic heterogeneity and the possible correlation between super antigen gene content and clinical manifestation [7].

Antibiotic susceptibility of Streptococcus pyogenes isolated from throat cultures of healthy children aged between 5-15 years

Streptococcus pyogenes is one of the most important causes of bacterial pharyngitis. Asymptomatic carriage of this organism especially among schoolchildren is a common issue. Study of the prevalence and antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of the flora strains, as clinical indicators, are useful for treatment of streptococcal infections. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and...

Streptococcus pyogenes emm types and subtypes of isolates from paediatric asymptomatic carriers and children with pharyngitis.

This study determined emm subtypes of Streptococcus pyogenes strains isolated from asymptomatic carriers and children with pharyngitis. All strains were previously investigated for fibronectin-binding genes (prtF1 and prtF2) and antimicrobial susceptibility. The most significant differences between the two groups, which share only 5 of the 14 detected emmsubtypes, concern the presence of the tw...

A regionwide intervention to promote appropriate antibiotic use in children reversed trends in erythromycin resistance to Streptococcus pyogenes.

Streptococcus pyogenes is the major bacterial pathogen responsible for acute pharyngitis in children. Oral penicillin is the drug of choice for streptococcal pharyngitis, while macrolides are an alternative option for patients allergic to penicillin. The frequent use of macrolides promotes the spread of erythromycin resistance (1-2), but reducing the use of these antibiotics has been correlated...

Molecular characterization of a strain of group a streptococcus isolated from a patient with a psoas abscess.

We report the first case of a primary group A streptococcus (GAS) psoas abscess in a 31-year-old woman. The psoas abscess was preceded by an episode of acute pharyngitis. The M-protein gene (emm) and streptolysin S structural gene (sagA) were present in the isolate, with no significant amino acid differences from previously described sequences of M1 GAS isolates. Multilocus sequence typing (MLS...
