چکیده

We present a semi-interactive method for 3D reconstruction specialized for indoor scenes which combines computer vision techniques with efficient interaction. We use panoramas, popularly used for visualization of indoor scenes, but clearly not able to show depth, for their great field of view, as the starting point. Exploiting user defined knowledge, in term of a rough sketch of orthogonality and parallelism in scenes, we design smart interaction techniques to semi-automatically reconstruct a scene from coarse to fine level. The framework is flexible and efficient. Users can build a coarse walls-and-floor textured model in five mouse clicks, or a detailed model showing all furniture in a couple of minutes interaction. We show results of reconstruction on four different scenes. The accuracy of the reconstructed models is quite high, around 1% error at full room scale. Thus, our framework is a good choice for applications requiring accuracy as well as application requiring a 3D impression of the scene. 2011 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Automation in Multi-Image Spherical Photogrammetry for 3D Architectural Reconstructions

The derivation of 3D metric information from spherical images for interactive exploration and realistic 3D modeling is receiving great attention due to their high-resolution content, large field-of-view, lowcost, easiness, rapidity and completeness. We present a methodology for accurate 3D reconstruction from spherical (panoramic) images acquired by mosaicking separated frame images captured wi...

A Statistical Geometric Framework for Reconstruction of Scene Models

This paper addresses the problem of reconstructing surface models of indoor scenes from sparse 3D scene structure captured from N camera views. Sparse 3D measurements of real scenes are readily estimated from image sequences using structure-from-motion techniques. Currently there is no general method for reconstruction of 3D models of arbitrary scenes from sparse data. We previously introduced ...

First Experiences with a Mobile Platform for Flexible 3d Model Acquisition in Indoor and Outdoor Environments – the Wägele

Efficient and comfortable acquisition of large 3D scenes is an important topic for many current and future applications like cultural heritage, web applications and 3DTV and therefore it is a hot research topic. In this paper we present a new mobile 3D model acquisition platform. The platform uses 2D laser range scanners for both self localization by scan matching and geometry acquisition and a...

Automatic 3D Indoor Scene Updating with RGBD Cameras

Since indoor scenes are frequently changed in daily life, such as re-layout of furniture, the 3D reconstructions for them should be flexible and easy to update. We present an automatic 3D scene update algorithm to indoor scenes by capturing scene variation with RGBD cameras. We assume an initial scene has been reconstructed in advance in manual or other semi-automatic way before the change, and...

Development and Application of an Extended Geometric Model for High Resolution Panoramic Cameras

Digital panoramic photography has become a popular tool to record landscapes, city squares or indoor scenes in a single image with a full 360° view. In photogrammetric applications, a digital panoramic camera may present an interesting alternative to conventional image acquisition techniques such as large format film or plate based cameras. Advantages of such a camera are their very high resolu...
