Balanced group-labeled graphs

چکیده
A group-labeled graph is a graph whose vertices and edges have been assigned labels from some abelian group. The weight of a subgraph of a group-labeled graph is the sum of the labels of the vertices and edges in the subgraph. A group-labeled graph is said to be balanced if the weight of every cycle in the graph is zero. We give a characterization of balanced group-labeled graphs that generalizes the known characterizations of balanced signed graphs and consistent marked graphs. We count the number of distinct balanced labellings of a graph by a nite abelian group and show that this number depends only on the order of and not its structure. We show that all balanced labellings of a graph can be obtained from the all-zero labeling using simple operations. Finally, we give a new constructive characterization of consistent marked graphs and markable graphs, that is, graphs that have a consistent marking with at least one negative vertex.

متن کاملA note on inverses of labeled graphs
We consider simple labeled graphs, with non-zero labels in a ring. If the adjacency matrix of a labeled graph is invertible, the inverse matrix is a (labeled) adjacency matrix of another graph, called the inverse of the original graph. If the labeling takes place in an ordered ring, then balanced inverses—those with positive products of labels along every cycle—are of interest. We introduce the...
متن کاملFurther results on total mean cordial labeling of graphs
A graph G = (V,E) with p vertices and q edges is said to be a total mean cordial graph if there exists a function f : V (G) → {0, 1, 2} such that f(xy) = [(f(x)+f(y))/2] where x, y ∈ V (G), xy ∈ E(G), and the total number of 0, 1 and 2 are balanced. That is |evf (i) − evf (j)| ≤ 1, i, j ∈ {0, 1, 2} where evf (x) denotes the total number of vertices and edges labeled with x (x = 0, 1, 2). In thi...
متن کاملRemarks on Distance-Balanced Graphs
Distance-balanced graphs are introduced as graphs in which every edge uv has the following property: the number of vertices closer to u than to v is equal to the number of vertices closer to v than to u. Basic properties of these graphs are obtained. In this paper, we study the conditions under which some graph operations produce a distance-balanced graph.
متن کاملApplication of n-distance balanced graphs in distributing management and finding optimal logistical hubs
Optimization and reduction of costs in management of distribution and transportation of commodity are one of the main goals of many organizations. Using suitable models in supply chain in order to increase efficiency and appropriate location for support centers in logistical networks is highly important for planners and managers. Graph modeling can be used to analyze these problems and many oth...
