چکیده

In this paper, we theoretically analyze the received signal performance during reception by a RAKE receiver at the terminal in wideband DS-CDMA (W-CDMA: wideband code division multiple access) downlink and evaluate the characteristics by a simulation. This theoretical analysis considers the long code and Walsh code used in the WCDMA downlink, signal transmission to many users, and transmission beamforming at the base station. We derive an exact solution of the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) after RAKE reception at the terminal. In this process, the interference signals exhibit correlation between the RAKE fingers of the terminal in the W-CDMA downlink. The simulation verifies the derived SINR equation. In addition, we evaluate the signal characteristics of the RAKE reception at the terminal in a fading environment and discuss the differences from the theoretical values. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Evaluation of Downlink Performance of a Multiple-Cell, Rake Receiver Assisted CDMA Mobile System

In wireless Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) system, the use of power control is indispensable to combat near-far and fading problems. Signals transmitted over a multipath propagation channel which exhibits inter-path interference and fading. The receiver has to employ measures to mitigate these effects or it will incur severe performance degradation. A classic approach in CDMA communicatio...

On the downlink capacity of TDD CDMA systems using a pre-Rake

The Pre-Rake technique for the downlink transmission in TDD-based CDMA wireless systems has been shown to provide greater capacity and a simpler receiver design at the mobile receiver. Nevertheless this technique is very affected by fast changing channels, since it relies on uplink channel measurements for the downlink transmission. In this paper a semi-analytical approach to the performance, i...

Chip Level Decision Feedback Equalizer for CDMA Downlink Channel

In most commercial wideband code division multiple access (W-CDMA) systems, the transmitted signal in the downlink channel is spread by orthogonal codes to accommodate different users. However, frequency selective fading destroys the orthogonality and causes multiple access interference (MAI). The rake receiver has been proposed for a receiver in the downlink channel. Although providing reasona...

Comparison of downlink transmit diversity schemes for RAKE and SINR maximizing receivers

In DS-CDMA communications, the conventional receiver is the RAKE receiver. In the downlink (base station to mobile) signalling with celldependent scrambling, orthogonal codes and a common channel for all the users, this receiver does not maximize the Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio (SINR) at its output. Another receiver, with the same structure as the RAKE receiver, is suitable for down...

Performance Analysis of ZF Pre-Coder and Extended Joint Channel Estimation Method in Downlink CDMA with HPA

In the down link scenario of code division multiple access (CDMA) systems, multi user detectors (MUDs) such as linear de-correlating detector (LDDs) provide satisfactory symbol error rates (SERs) at the expense of much increased complexity, they require all active users’ spreading sequences, which is impractical from privacy point of view. To overcome this impracticality, a simple matched filte...
