چکیده
Increasing insightful thinking in analytic geometry using frequent visualisation and a synthetic approach Theoretical background and practical implementation As of 2014, synthetic geometry will not be part of the Dutch 'VWO – Mathematics B' programme anymore. Instead, the focus will be more on analytic geometry. Mark Timmer explored possibilities to connect the two disciplines in order to have students look at analytical exercises from a more synthetic point of view. 1. Introduction Although analytic geometry is a wonderful technique to prove a variety of theorems in Euclidean geometry in a convincing and easy manner, it rarely provides many insights. Secondary school students often apply it without any consideration of what they are actually doing. We conjecture that this leads to fragmented understanding. Rather than developing an overall picture of the geometric concepts the students are working with, the analytic and synthetic geometry remain isolated domains. This results in limited understanding of the mathematical structures at hand, and a limited set of techniques and strategies for solving exercises from these different domains. Analytic geometry becomes

Increasing insightful thinking in analytic geometry
Elsewhere in this issue Ferdinand Verhulst described the discussion of the interaction of analysis and geometry in the 19th century. In modern times such discussions come up again and again. As of 2014, synthetic geometry will not be part of the Dutch ‘vwo – mathematics B’ programme any more. Instead, the focus will be more on analytic geometry. Mark Timmer and Nellie Verhoef explored possibili...
متن کاملسنجش تفکر سیستمی در بین مدیران ارشد ستادی از طریق مدل گلدمن در دانشگاه علوم پزشکی تهران
Background and Aim: Strategic thinking plays a very important role in guarding organizational survival and increasing development in today's dynamic and changing environment. One of the elements of strategic thinking is systemic thinking, which forms the conceptual framework to solve issues in an organization. This study aims to determine the ability of Tehran University of Medical Sciences (T...
متن کاملReflective Teaching in the Context of a Video Club: Nurturing Professional Relationships and Building a Learner Community
The purpose of this study was to examine how four teachers used the seven processes of videotape analysis to develop an analytic approach and reflective thinking towards their teaching. The study was organized within video clubs and was used to describe the interactions among four teachers about their experiences at a language institute. Data were gathered through videotaped recordings of lesso...
متن کاملAn Extension of Poincare Model of Hyperbolic Geometry with Gyrovector Space Approach
The aim of this paper is to show the importance of analytic hyperbolic geometry introduced in [9]. In [1], Ungar and Chen showed that the algebra of the group $SL(2,mathbb C)$ naturally leads to the notion of gyrogroups and gyrovector spaces for dealing with the Lorentz group and its underlying hyperbolic geometry. They defined the Chen addition and then Chen model of hyperbolic geomet...
متن کاملKey Factors Influencing Lean Thinking Implementation in Health Services (A Study of Isfahan Health Centers)
Introduction: Health centers around the world are facing significant pressures to increase productivity. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of services and to create competitive advantages in these centers, we need to implement lean principles. The purpose of this study was to identify and prioritize the key factors affecting the implementation of lean thinking in the field of health se...
