چکیده

Nuclear RNA of high molecular weight, approximately 15 to 30 x 10(3) nucleotides long, isolated from rat ascites cells, has been shown previously to contain both middle repetitive and single-copy sequences. However, it was not known whether these sequences were located on separate molecules or whether they were interspersed within the same molecule. The present communication distinguishes between these possibilities and shows that a large proportion of nuclear RNA of high molecular weight consists of interspersed middle repetitive and single-copy sequences.

Genome organization and characterization of the repetitive and inverted repeat DNA sequences in Neurospora crassa.

Regulatory circuits have been defined in Neurospora c m s a within which multiple unlinked genes are controlled in a positive fashion by major regulatory genes. It has been suggested that repetitive DNA sequences situated adjacent to structural genes may serve as regulatory sites. Experiments are presented which examine the amount and organization of the repetitive sequences of Neurospora. The...

Molecular typing of avian Escherichia coli isolates by enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus sequences-polymerase chain reaction (ERIC-PCR)

BACKGROUND: Colibacillosis is one of the most economically important diseases of poultry worldwide. OBJECTIVES: This study was conducted to examine the clonal relatedness and typing of 95 avian Escherichia coli isolates by ERIC-PCR. METHODS: Sixty-three E. coli isolates from two common manifestations of colibacillosis (yolk sac infection and colisepticemia) and 32 isolates from feces of apparen...

High-molecular-weight nuclear polyadenylate-containing ribonucleic acid isolated from the lactating guniea-pig mammary gland contains milk-protein messenger ribonucleic acid sequences.

1. Steady-state poly(A)-containing nuclear RNA was isolated from the lactating guinea-pig mammary gland and analysed by sucrose-gradient centrifugation under denaturing conditions. 2. Nucleic acid-hybridization studies demonstrated the presence of small amounts of high-molecular-weight RNA species containing milk-protein mRNA sequences sedimenting at 25S. These were not found in the post-nuclea...

Interspersion of repetitive with repetitive sequences in an amphibian, Rana berlandieri.

When conventional genome arrangement analyses performed on R. berlandieri DNA at a normal (60 degrees C) and a high (75 degrees C) reassociation temperature were compared, an additional interspersion pattern was detected which indicates that different classes of repetitive sequences are closely interspersed with each other. Our results further suggest that the genomic abundance of purified (or ...
