چکیده

AbstTactThis paper presents a technique for computing the probability that f of m transmissions will be collisionfree at a given receiver in a spread-spectrum multiple-access (SSMA) radio network in which all transmitters employ identical wideband symbol waveforms for signalling. Separation of signals (collision-freedom) is based on the fine timeresolution characteristics of pulse compression receivers operating on wideband waveforms. A taxonomy of collisionfree reception events is presented for a low-complexity sampling receiver operating in the absence of significant resolvable multipath, and combinatorial techniques are used to count collision-free reception events. A method for embedding this calculation in receiver performance analyses is given.

Spread-Spectrum Multiple-Access Performance of Orthogonal Codes: Linear Receivers

This paper analyzes a direct-sequence, spread-spectrum, multiple-access (SSMA) communication system ‘which assigns a set of Morthogonal sequences to each user. With all direct sequence SSMA systems, K users share a channel by phase modulating their transmissions with signature sequences. However, the users of our system transmit log, M hits of information/sequence. This contrasts classical SSMA...

Performance limits of Reed-Solomon coded CDMA with orthogonal signaling in a Rayleigh-fading channel

The asymptotic performance of Reed–Solomon (RS)codedM -ary orthogonal signaling with ratio-threshold test (RTT) type demodulation in a Rayleigh-fading channel is considered. We show that the minimum Eb=N0 needed for error-free communication is e ln 2 (2.75 dB) with RTT, and 4.79 (6.8 dB) with hard decisions. The optimum code rate that minimizes the required Eb=N0 is e 1 with RTT and 0.46 with h...

Performance analysis of DS/SSMA unslotted ALOHA system with variable length data traffic

In this paper, we analyze the throughput of a directsequence spread spectrum multiple access (DS/SSMA) unslotted ALOHA system with variable length data traffic. The system is analyzed for two cases: 1) systems without channel load sensing protocol (CLSP) and 2) systems with CLSP. The bit-error probability and the throughput are obtained as a function of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) during me...

On Sequence Sharing for Multi-code Ds/cdma Systems

This paper focuses on sequence sharing, a technique of sequence reuse for multi-code DS/SSMA systems. Each user in the system owns a subset of orthogonal sequences, whereby the diflerent subsets of sequences are not disjoint—a given sequence may be shared by more than one user. Thus, the system needs fewer orthogonal sequences, compared to a system which does not employ sequence sharing. Since,...

Performance of UWB SSMA using orthogonal PPM-TH over dense multipath channels

In this work we study ultra wideband (UWB) communications over dense multipath channels using orthogonal pulse position modulation (PPM) for data modulation and time-hopping (TH) for code modulation. We consider the effects of the multiple access interference (MUI) in asynchronous spread spectrum multiple access (SSMA) based on random TH codes. We use a realistic multipath channel to analyze th...
