South Florida Microfungi: New Records of Saprophytic Hyphomycetes on Plant Debris

Nine species of saprophytic hyphomycetes (anamorphic fungi), collected on plant debris from two different localities of southeast Florida, are recorded for the first time from the United States. They are: Anungitea fragilis, Beltraniella havanensis, Canalisporium caribense, Circinotrichum papakurae, Dictyosporium micronesicum, D. subramanianii, Dischloridium laeense, Gyrothrix verticillata and Piricauda cochinensis. Comments about their taxonomy, ecology and geographical distribution are included. Five infrequently reported species and twenty additional widespread taxa are also listed.

In present study, two species of Hyphomycetes fungi including, Cephaliophora tropica (in soil), and Monascus pilosus (on corn silage) are reported for the first time to Iranian mycobiota.
