and would the Society want it. It was transferred to Bismarck in 1948 and fell into obscurity until 1991. The unmineralized bones of the Highgate Mastodon were in remarkably good condition when restoration began in 1991, perhaps because the bones had been “sized” with white glue when collected. The skeleton is 80 to 85% complete. A tusk, left femur, left ulna, tooth, and several foot bones were missing and were fabricated for the restoration. The missing tooth was discovered by Regcraft’s granddaughter in an attic in 2006. Dental analysis indicates that this adult male mastodon was 40-45 years old when it died. The bones show no indication of disease. Several broken ribs on its left side may indicate cause of death, perhaps as a result of combat. A pebble size piece of entombing sediment recovered from a hole in the sternum indicates that the Highgate Mastodon inhabited a boreal forest dominated by spruce, probably between about 12,000 and 10,300 yrs BP.

The effect of functional corrective, central stability exercises and combination on the shoulder girdle posture of adolescent girls
Introduction and Aim: Shoulder and scapular abnormalities are the most common shoulder girdle disorders. The relationship between central stability and upper and lower body muscles strength and endurance has always been emphasized. Therefore, it is important to choose a better training method to prevent and treat shoulder girdle disorders. The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of ...

Introduction: Shoulder dyskinesia is common among athletes with overhead throws and can make athletes susceptible to shoulder injuries. The purpose of this study was to compare the isometric strength and functional stability of shoulder girdle muscles in volleyball women Players with and without scapular dyskinesia. Methods: In this descriptive-comparative study, 12 women volleyball players wit...
متن کاملComparison of Functional Stability of Shoulder Girdle between Individuals with Symmetric and Asymmetric Scapula
Background and Aim: Changes in the position of the scapula due to its multiple roles, including acting as a muscle binding site and stabilization in this area can reduce the physiological and biomechanical efficiency of the shoulder, which ultimately increases shoulder injury. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to compare the functional stability of shoulder girdle between asymmetric and ...

متن کاملHistological evidence for a supraspinous ligament in sauropod dinosaurs
Supraspinous ossified rods have been reported in the sacra of some derived sauropod dinosaurs. Although different hypotheses have been proposed to explain the origin of this structure, histological evidence has never been provided to support or reject any of them. In order to establish its origin, we analyse and characterize the microstructure of the supraspinous rod of two sauropod dinosaurs f...
