Another Length Scale in String Theory?

چکیده

We suggest that some of the remarkable results on stringy dynamics which have been found recently indicate the existence of another dynamical length scale in string theory that, at weak coupling, is much shorter than the string scale. This additional scale corresponds to a mass ∼ ms/gs where ms is the square root of the string tension and gs is the string coupling constant. In four dimensions this coincides with the Planck mass.

A no cost method for finding the density of liquids

In this article, a simple and no cost method, which is based on Archimedes’ principle and moment of force and which does not require measurement of mass and volume of the liquid, is described for the determination of the density of liquids. The experimental set up for this purpose is very simple. A meter scale is hung by a string from a rigid support at center point. A solid substance of unknow...

DEVELOPMENT IN STRING THEORY

The string theory is a fast moving subject, both physics wise and in the respect of mathematics. In order to keep up with the discipline it is important to move with new ideas which are being stressed. Here I wish to give extracts from new papers of ideas which I have recently found interesting. There are six papers which are involved: I ."Strings formulated directly in 4 dimensions " A. N...

Imprints of short distance physics on inflationary cosmology

Inflation stretches quantum fluctuations to astrophysical scales, providing a microscopic mechanism for the formation of galaxies @1#. Most models of inflation yield far more quasi-exponential expansion than the 60 e-foldings required to solve the difficulties faced by the standard model of the hot big bang. Consequently, astrophysical scales in the present universe map to physical distances in...

Generalized Uncertainty Principle in Quantum Gravity from Micro-Black Hole Gedanken Experiment

We review versions of the Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) obtained in string theory and in gedanken experiments carried out in quantum gravity. We show how a GUP can be derived from a measure gedanken experiment involving micro-black holes at the Planck scale of spacetime. The model uses only Heisenberg principle and Schwarzschild radius and is independent from particular versions of Qu...

Suppressed Black Hole Production from Minimal Length

Large extra dimensions lower the Planck scale to values soon accessible. Motivated by String Theory, the models of large extra dimensions predict a vast number of new effects in the energy range of the lowered Planck scale, among them the production of TeV-mass black holes. But not only is the Planck scale the energy scale at which effects of modified gravity become important. String Theory as ...
