چکیده
A 52-year-old male smoker presented with a 1-week history of fever, left-sided pleuritic chest pain, and body aches. Four days later, cough with hemoptysis developed. He visited the local hospital and was suspected to have left-sided parapneumonic pleural effusion. Repeated attempts at needle aspiration yielded a small amount of pleural fluid, which was exudative with a total leukocyte count of 23,300/ L and 98% polymorphs. The procedure resulted in worsening chest pain and dyspnea. The patient was transferred to our hospital, and chest radiography demonstrated a large left-sided pneumothorax. An intercostal chest tube was inserted and relieved the pneumothorax. A chest radiograph was obtained after placement of the chest tube (Fig 1).

An autopsy was performed and pathologic review of surgical and postmortem specimens confirmed that the original lung lesion was metastatic hepatoma. Excavating solitary metastases from primary adenocarcinomas represent the rarest form of cavitary metastatic lesion, and this is the first report of hepatocellul...

The pathologic result of the surgically excised cavitary lesion was reported as pulmonary endometriosis.
متن کاملA Rare Case of Cavitary Lesion of the Lung Caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae in an Immunocompetent Patient
Mycoplasma pneumoniae is an atypical bacterium that most commonly causes upper respiratory tract infections, but it can also cause pneumonia, referred to as "walking pneumonia." Although cavitary lesions are present in a wide variety of infectious and noninfectious processes, those attributable to M. pneumoniae are extremely uncommon; thus, to date, epidemiological studies are lacking. Here, we...
