Effects on Mechanical Properties of Track Structure and Running Safety Caused by Uneven Settlement of Bridge Piers

چکیده
A static and a dynamic analysis model are separately established using ABAQUS finite element program to study the mechanical properties of track structure and running stability and safety of the vehicle under the condition that uneven settlement of bridge piers exists. The static model is aimed at studying the effects caused by uneven settlement alone and the dynamic one is for the effects induced by uneven settlement and train loads together. Conclusions are drawn as follows: 1) The influence range of uneven settlement on fastenings is 10 groups of fastenings on both sides of the beam joint. Among them the influence on the first group of fastenings is the largest. 2) The influence area of uneven settlement on rail stress is within the range of 15 m on both sides of the beam joint. The bigger uneven settlement is, the larger rail stress will be. 3) Uneven settlement of bridge piers has certain effects on running stability and safety, but every evaluating indicator is within the specification limits, showing that the operation has good emergency capacity. 4) The influence induced by uneven settlement is much greater on the mechanical characteristics of rail and fastenings than on running stability and safety, making it clear that the factor that determines the limit of uneven settlement of bridge piers is fastening force and rail stress, not the running stability and safety. Bridge Bed Strengthening, Disaster Prevention due to Scouring
One of the most important factors in determining the depth of foundations in structures adjacent to the water flow is the scouring phenomenon; the scouring is a phenomenon caused by the interactions between water flow and erodible bed materials, which causes the removal of sediments where hydraulic structures are located, including bridge piers. Every year, a great number of bridges are damaged...
متن کاملEffects of track characteristics on dynamic responses of train-bridge systems
High speed trains are an indispensable part of rapid transportation systems in many countries. As the fastest means of transport on the ground, these trains are extremely sensitive to the terrain and track conditions. Geometrical irregularities and mechanical characteristics of the track, together with inconsistencies in the lane (including bridges that support the track) are considered importa...

Local scouring around bridge piers is a natural phenomenon caused by the erosive process of flowing stream on alluvial beds. The 3D flow field around bridge piers interacting with the bed materials increases complexity of local scour process. The local scour depth develops in accelerated flows and if it is not predicted correctly, the bottom level of local scour hole will exceed the original le...
متن کاملPERFORMANCE-BASED SEISMIC DESIGN OPTIMIZATION FOR MULI-COLUMN RC BRIDGE PIERS, CONSIDERING QUASI-ISOLATION
In this paper an optimization framework is presented for automated performance-based seismic design of bridges consisting of multi-column RC pier substructures. The beneficial effects of fusing components on seismic performance of the quasi-isolated system is duly addressed in analysis and design. The proposed method is based on a two-step structural analysis consisting of a linear modal dynami...
متن کاملRetrofitting of Bridge Piers against the Scour Damages: Case Study of the Marand-Soofian Route Bridge
Bridge piers which are constructed in the track of high water rivers cause some variations in the flow patterns. This variation mostly is a result of the changes in river sections. Decreasing the river section, bridge piers significantly impress the flow patterns. Once the flow approaches the piers, the stream lines change their order, causing the appearance of different flow patterns around th...
