The effect of pheromones of Hopkins on the at t ract ion of Ips pini (Say) to its pheromone, ipsdienol, was investigated in stands of lodgepole pine. The mixture of cisand trans-verbenol significantly reduced catches of 1. pini in t raps baited with ipsdienol at three locations in British Columbia. exo-Brevicomin had no effect on catches of f. pini, irrespective of the enantiomeric composition of exobrevicomin. Ipsdienol did not s ignif icantly reduce the at tract ion of D. ponderosae to traps baited with cisand trans-verbenol, and (+)-exe-brevicomin.
