Nuclear interactions from the renormalization group

چکیده

We discuss how the renormalization group can be used to derive effective nuclear interactions. Starting from the model-independent low-momentum interaction Vlow k, we successively integrate out high-lying particle and hole states from momentum shells around the Fermi surface as proposed by Shankar. The renormalization group approach allows for a systematic calculation of induced interactions and yields similar contributions to the scattering amplitude as the two-body parquet equations. We review results for the S0 and P2 superfluid pairing gaps as well as the spin dependence of effective interactions in neutron matter. Implications for the cooling of neutron stars are discussed.

Relation between standard nuclear physics approach and nuclear effective field theory through renormalization group

A relation between standard nuclear physics approach (SNPA) and nuclear effective field theory (NEFT) is proposed from a renormalization group point of view. SNPA and NEFT are satisfactorily related to each other through the Wilsonian renormalization group (WRG) method. It is clearly shown that the use of the simple contact interactions in NEFT is adequate to simulate short-distance physics, an...

Renormalization Group Equation for Low Momentum Effective Nuclear Interactions

We consider two nonperturbative methods originally used to derive shell model effective interactions in nuclei. These methods have been applied to the two nucleon sector to obtain an energy independent effective interaction Vlow k, which preserves the low momentum half-on-shell T matrix and the deuteron pole, with a sharp cutoff imposed on all intermediate state momenta. We show that Vlow k sca...

Time-Dependent Real-Space Renormalization Group Method

In this paper, using the tight-binding model, we extend the real-space renormalization group method to time-dependent Hamiltonians. We drive the time-dependent recursion relations for the renormalized tight-binding Hamiltonian by decimating selective sites of lattice iteratively. The formalism is then used for the calculation of the local density of electronic states for a one dimensional quant...

Consideration of Nuclear Forces from the Viewpoint of the Renormalization Group Relation of Nuclear Forces between Phenomenological Approach and Nuclear Effective Field Theory

A relation between nuclear forces derived using a phenomenological approach and nuclear effective field theory (NEFT) is proposed from a renormalization group point of view. A phenomenological nuclear force (Vph) and an NEFT-based NN-potential (VEFT ) are satisfactorily related to each other through the Wilsonian renormalization group (WRG) method. It is clearly shown that use of the simple con...

Density matrix renormalization group and wave function factorization for nuclei

We employ the density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) and the wave function factorization method for the numerical solution of large scale nuclear structure problems. The DMRG exhibits an improved convergence for problems with realistic interactions due to the implementation of the finite algorithm. The wave function factorization of fpg-shell nuclei yields rapidly converging approximations...
