چکیده

Performance of any tracking algorithm depends upon the model selected to capture the target dynamics. In real world applications, no apriori knowledge about the target motion is available. Moreover, it could be a maneuvering target. The proposed method is able to track maneuvering or nonmaneuvering multiple point targets with large motion ( pixels) using multiple filter bank in an IR image sequence in the presence of clutter and occlusion due to clouds. The use of multiple filters is not new, but the novel idea here is that it uses single-step decision logic to switch over between filters. Our approach does not use any apriori knowledge about maneuver parameters, nor does it exploit a parameterized nonlinear model for the target trajectories. This is in contrast to: (i) Interacting Multiple Model (IMM) filtering which required the maneuver parameters, and (ii) Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) or Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF), both of which require a parameterized model for the trajectories. We compared our approach for target tracking with IMM filtering using EKF and UKF for nonlinear trajectory models. UKF uses the nonlinearity of the target model, where as a first order linearization is used in case of EKF. RMS for the predicted position error (RMS-PPE) obtained using our proposed methodology is significantly less in case of highly maneuvering target.

Multiple Maneuvering Point-target Tracking Using Filter Bank in an Ir Image Sequence

Tracking of maneuvering multiple point-targets in the presence of clutter, in IR image sequences is indeed a challenging task. In real world applications, no apriori knowledge about the movement of the target is available. We propose a method to track maneuvering and nonmaneuvering targets with large motion (±20 pixels) using multiple filter bank in an IR image sequence with occlusion due to cl...

Multiple Target Tracking With a 2-D Radar Using the JPDAF Algorithm and Combined Motion Model

Multiple target tracking (MTT) is taken into account as one of the most important topics in tracking targets with radars. In this paper, the MTT problem is used for estimating the position of multiple targets when a 2-D radar is employed to gather measurements. To do so, the Joint Probabilistic Data Association Filter (JPDAF) approach is applied to tracking the position of multiple targets. To ...

Bearings-Only Tracking of Manoeuvring Targets Using Multiple Model Variable Rate Particle Filter with Differential Evolution

In standard target tracking, algorithms assume synchronous and identical sampling rate for measurement and state processes. Contrary to these methods particle filter is proposed with variable rate. These filters use a restricted number of states, and a Gamma distribution is applied at state arrival time so that the maneuvering targets could be tracked. Although this structure is capable of trac...

Multiple Target Tracking in Wireless Sensor Networks Based on Sensor Grouping and Hybrid Iterative-Heuristic Optimization

A novel hybrid method for tracking multiple indistinguishable maneuvering targets using a wireless sensor network is introduced in this paper. The problem of tracking the location of targets is formulated as a Maximum Likelihood Estimation. We propose a hybrid optimization method, which consists of an iterative and a heuristic search method, for finding the location of targets simultaneously. T...

Clutter Removal in Sonar Image Target Tracking Using PHD Filter

In this paper we have presented a new procedure for sonar image target tracking using PHD filter besides K-means algorithm in high density clutter environment. We have presented K-means as data clustering technique in this paper to estimate the location of targets. Sonar images target tracking is a very good sample of high clutter environment. As can be seen, PHD filter because of its special f...
