Aggregation of Wind Farms in Distribution Networks
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper presents a methodology to simplify a distribution network, which consists of a number of wind farms equipped with induction generators and MV lines. The methodology leads up to an approximate equivalent network, which consists of an equivalent wind farm and an approximate equivalent MV feeder. The proposed methodology reduces the complexity of an examined Power System and as a result accelerates the simulation time and allows various applications, such as security assessment and stability analysis, with limited resources. The validation of this methodology is examined by its application to the distribution network of Karystos in Evia Island, as well as to the whole network of Evia Island. In both examined cases, we simulate the response of both full and reduced network under the same contingency and the simulation results are commented upon and compared. The simulation is performed using a SIMULINK/MATLAB software package developed in NTUA and is appropriate for simulation and stability analysis of small interconnected or autonomous Power Systems.

Mortality at wind-farms is positively related to large-scale distribution and aggregation in griffon vultures
Wind-farms have negative impacts on the environment, mainly through habitat destruction and bird mortality, making it urgent to design predictive tools to use in landscape planning. A frequent assumption of wind-farm assessment studies is that bird distribution and abundance and bird mortality through collision with turbines are closely related. However, previous results are contradictory and q...

The significant penetration rate of wind turbines in power systems made some challenges in the operation of the systems such as large-scale power fluctuations induced by wind farms. Gas-fired plants with fast starting ability and high ramping can better handle natural uncertainties of wind power compared to other traditional plants. Therefore, the integration of electrical and natural gas syste...
متن کاملNew Approaches for Very Short-term Steady-State Analysis of An Electrical Distribution System with Wind Farms
Distribution networks are undergoing radical changes due to the high level of penetration of dispersed generation. Dispersed generation systems require particular attention due to their incorporation of uncertain energy sources, such as wind farms, and due to the impacts that such sources have on the planning and operation of distribution networks. In particular, the foreseeable, extensive use ...
متن کاملAggregation modeling of large wind farms using an improved K-means algorithm
Large wind farms require modeling and simulation in their planning and construction process to provide a basis for grid planning. As a large wind farm is comprised of hundreds or even thousands of wind generators, the detailed-model building of wind farms is difficult, which are associated with slow simulation speeds and heavy workloads. In this paper, an improved K-means algorithm-based aggreg...

Abstract: In the last decade, the amount of distributed generation connected to the distribution network is increasing. The presence of distributed generation resources in distribution systems has a great influence on its behavior and it is necessary to consider the impact of these resources on the distribution network design. In this study, Optimal Coordinated Voltage Control (OCVC) using wind...
