Minimally Invasive Esophagectomy

چکیده
In the second stage, the patient is placed in a supine position for laparoscopic construction of the gastric conduit, placement of a feeding jejunostomy, and pyloroplasty. The third stage consists of mobilization of the cervical esophagus via the left neck, removal of the surgical specimen and gastric pull-up, and construction of an esophagogastric anastomosis. This phase of the operation is performed as a continuation of the second stage, while the patient is still in the supine position.

Comparison the Outcomes of Open Thoracotomy and Minimally Invasive Thoracoscopic Esophagectomy in Esophageal Cancer
Introduction: Surgery is the first therapeutic option for esophageal cancer. There is controversy over the selection of the best surgical approach. Regarding this, the present study aimed to compare the minimally invasive and open esophagectomy in terms of their short-term outcomes and preoperative complications. Materials & Methods: This randomized clinical trial was conducted on 61 patients i...
متن کاملMinimally Invasive Approach to Esophagectomy
BACKGROUND Recent advances in laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgery have made it possible to perform esophagectomy using minimally invasive techniques. The aim of this report was to present our preliminary experience with minimally invasive esophagectomy. METHODS We reviewed our experience on eight patients who underwent minimally invasive esophagectomy using either laparoscopic and/or thora...
متن کاملCurrent Status and Future Perspectives on Minimally Invasive Esophagectomy
Esophageal cancer has one of the highest malignant potentials of any type of tumor. The 3-field lymph node dissection is the standard procedure in Japan for surgically curable esophageal cancer in the middle or upper thoracic esophagus. Minimally invasive esophagectomy is being increasingly performed in many countries, and several studies report its feasibility and curability; further, the magn...
متن کاملComparison of perioperative outcomes between open and minimally invasive esophagectomy for esophageal cancer
BACKGROUND To compare surgical outcomes of thoracoscopic and laparoscopic esophagectomy with open esophagectomy in order to study the learning curve of minimally invasive surgery for esophageal cancers. METHODS Among 109 esophageal cancer patients retrospectively studied, 59 patients underwent minimally invasive esophagectomy (MIE) and 50 underwent open surgery (OE). In the MIE group, the fir...
متن کاملMinimally invasive esophagectomy for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma in elderly patients
The purpose of this retrospective study was to investigate the value of minimally invasive esophagectomy (combined thoracoscopic-laparoscopic esophagectomy) for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma in elderly patients (≥70 years). From January 2009 to December 2014, 58 consecutive patients aged older than 70 years with clinical stage stage I or II esophageal squamous cell carcinoma underwent mini...
متن کاملHypoxemia in minimally invasive esophagectomy for squamous cell carcinoma of lower esophagus
Introduction: Minimally invasive esophage-ctomy for esophageal cancer is the surgical treatment-of-choice, and comprises both thoracoscopy and laparoscopy. The risk of hypoxemia arises during one-lung ventilation in the thoracoscopy stage, especially for patients with reduced lung function, and thus poses significant threat to the surgical outcome. This case report aims to demonstrate one possi...
