Scheduling On-Demand Broadcast Items

The demand for various information delivery services has enormously increased over the past few years and data broadcast has become more and more popular because of its nearly infinite scalability. In a broadcast scenario the key consideration is the scheduling algorithm that determines the next data item to be delivered over the network. The goal is to find a well performing algorithm in terms of average and worstcase performance. To efficiently use data broadcast different scheduling algorithms need to be developed and evaluated according to different metrics and measures. The algorithms must meet criteria to minimize response time and decision overhead and provide good scalability and applicability.
