Perspective Based Reading Technique for Software

چکیده
Perspective Based Reading (PBR) provides Engineers with concise statements directing their review of documents related to a project. While research shows the benefit of using techniques such as PROPER,Little effort has been directed to the application of PBR during Requirements Elicitation. This paper discusses the benefit of bringing these same techniques to the beginning of projects where they can be of most use to a project team and a company as a whole. Our goal is to provide a key set of perspectives for companies to use to determine if a requirement is appropriate for a project, is part of the company's core business, and if the requirement adds value for the customer. One important idea of PBR is that the defects are detected by utilizing the artifact in a way that it will be used in subsequent phases(for instance testing or designing). It is believed that this way are found earlier than they otherwise would be found. Furthermore duplicate work is avoided, since the subsequent work can partly be carried out during there view.

Application of the perspective-based reading technique in the nuclear I&C context. CORSICA work report 2011
Inspections and reviews are one of the most effective ways of detecting errors in software development. The methods are also cost-effective because defects can be spotted early in the development, and thus the cost of repairing the defects is lower. Reading techniques are the procedures that are used in the inspection or review of a software artefact. The most common procedures are simple ad-ho...

This paper describes an experimental comparison of two reading techniques, namely Checklist-based reading (CBR) and Perspective-based reading (PBR) for Object-Oriented (OO) design inspection. Software inspection is an effective approach to detect defects in the early stages of the software development process. However, inspections are usually applied for defect detection in software requirement...

متن کاملAn Activity Theory Perspective on the Role of Cooperative Assessment in the Reading Comprehension of Iranian EFL Learners
Reading comprehension has recently been reconceptualized in EFL reading instruction to foreground the importance of putting a social perspective on learning. Developed as a crucial aspect of Vygotskian sociocultural theory, activity theory views reading as a socially-mediated activity, for which the prerequisite cognitive processes are distributed among teacher, individual reader, other student...
متن کاملAn Internally Replicated Quasi-Experimental Comparison of Checklist and Perspective-Based Reading of Code Documents
The basic premise of software inspections is that they detect and remove defects before they propagate to subsequent development phases where their detection and correction cost escalates. To exploit their full potential, software inspections must call for a close and strict examination of the inspected artefact. For this, reading techniques for defect detection may be helpful since these techn...
متن کاملExperimental and Simulation Analysis of Perspective Difference in Scenario-based Requirements Inspection
Abstract. Perspective-Based Reading (PBR) is a scenario-based inspection technique for quality assurance of requirements documents where several reviewers read a document from different perspectives (e.g. user, designer, tester). The reading is made according to a special scenario, specific for each perspective, where each perspective is expected to find different defects and a combination of s...
