Hinterland Revisited

چکیده
This study aims to display how Carol Shileds’s short story Hinterland subverts the fundamental aspects of the classical definition of literature. Via parody, the story deconstructs the mediums that are peculiar to the concept of literary art. Moreover, Shileds does not only question central truths, but she also renders the reader to open a new perspective by revising the grand narratives of literature. Through transgressing the boundaries, Sheilds elucidates the gaps in these narratives, and judges absolute notions such as the almighty author, reality and time. Hence, the deconstructive aspect of parody becomes a means of questioning the strict norms that are the integral constituents of traditional literature.

Coordination in Hinterland Transport Chains: a Major Challenge for the Seaport Community
A variety of different firms, such as shipping lines, terminal operating companies, forwarders, hinterland transport providers and inland terminal operators are involved in hinterland transport. Besides such private companies, different public actors, such as the port authority, customs and infrastructure managers are involved as well. Coordination between all these actors is required to create...
متن کاملStrategic Planning of Hinterland Container Terminals: A Simulation Based Procedure
Hinterland container terminals (HCTs) are important hubs in modern logistic-networks that ensure efficient and frictionless intermodal container turnover. In fact HCTs play an important role in the distribution of containerized goods into the hinterland and are therefore significant for the development of industrial regions. To meet the requirements HCTs have to be designed and coordinated care...
متن کاملA new governance perspective on porthinterland relationships: The Port Hinterland Impact (PHI) matrix
Abst rac t We develop a new governance perspective on port–hinterland linkages and related port impacts. Many stakeholders in a port’s hinterland now demand tangible economic benefits from port activities, as a precondition for supporting port expansion and infrastructural investments. We use a governance lens to assess this farsighted contracting challenge. We find that most contemporary econo...
متن کاملPort Hinterland Modelling Based on Port Choice
This paper presents a new approach for hinterland modelling based on the results of port choice modelling. The paper follows the idea that the shippers’ port choice is a trade-off between various objective and subjective factors. The presented model tackles the problem by applying the AHP method in order to obtain ports’ preference rates based on subjective factors, and combine them with object...
متن کاملSimConT Simulation of hinterland Container Terminal operations
The Simulation of functions of container terminals is an approach for efficient resource-planning and effective capacity analysis of Hinterland Container Terminals (HCTs). This paper presents the first results of an HCT overall solution tool which integrates configuration, simulation and reporting, and which is understood as a prototype of a special hinterland container terminal optimization-en...
