Based on measured and forecasted wind power output it is possible to perform an analysis to assess the fluctuations of wind power generation in power systems. This report consists of two approaches for the analysis and assessment of wind power fluctuations. The first approach consists of a statistical analysis in which the power fluctuations of wind power output were determined by the calculation of probability density functions. For this section time series of measured and forecasted wind power output from 60 wind farms were analyzed. The second approach performs a frequency dependent analysis of the wind power fluctuations based on Fourier transforms. The effect of the spatial distribution of wind farms was taken into account by means of the coherence function and its dependence on the distance between wind farms. For this analysis the power output, in 1-minute resolution, from around 20 wind farms were used. In addition, measured power data, in 10 Hz resolution, from wind turbines were analyzed to evaluate power fluctuations in the high frequency range.
