چکیده

The Gutzwiller wave function for the three-band Hubbard model on a two dimensional CuO2 plane is studied by using the variational Monte Carlo (VMC) method in the limit Ud → ∞, where Ud is the Coulomb repulsion between holes on a Cu site. The VMC results for the energy and the fraction of d-holes are compared with those of the Rice-Ueda type Gutzwiller approximation (GA). The difference between the VMC and the GA results are most pronounced at half-filling, and away from half-filling the two results agree well in both the hole-doped and the electron-doped cases. The doping dependence of the momentum distribution function is also studied. PACS numbers: 74.20, 71.30.+h, 71.10.+x Typeset using REVTEX

Gutzwiller wave function under magnetic field

Magnetization process of the Gutzwiller wave function is studied accurately by a variational Monte Carlo method. We apply it to the one-dimensional (1D) and 2D Hubbard models (HM), and to the 1D periodic Anderson model (PAM) without orbital degeneracy. For the HM, magnetization varies discontinuously to the full moment, as the magnetic field increases. For the PAM, the paramagnetic state is uns...

Monte Carlo studies of attractive Hubbard model I Normal - state properties

Normal states of the attractive Hubbard model, especially in two dimension, are studied in the light of a transition from a Fermi liquid to an insulating or gapped state. A series of variational Monte Carlo calculations with better statistics is carried out to estimate accurately expectation values by several many-body wave functions. Although a relatively clear crossover is observed even in th...

Variational Monte-Carlo studies of Gossamer Superconductivity

We use a partially Gutzwiller projected BCS d-wave wavefunction with an antiferromagentic weighting factor to study the ground state phase diagram of a half filled Hubbard-Heisenberg model in a square lattice with nearest neighbor hopping t and a diagonal hopping t′. The calculations are carried out by using variational Monte Carlo method which treats the Gutzwiller projection explicitly. At la...

Helicity Modulus and Effective Hopping in the Two-dimensional Hubbard Model Using Slave-boson Methods

The slave-boson mean-field method is used to study the two-dimensional Hubbard model. A magnetic phase diagram allowing for paramagnetism, weakand strong ferromagnetism and antiferromagnetism is constructed and compared to the corresponding phase diagram using the Hartree-Fock approximation (HFA). Magnetically ordered regions are reduced by a factor of awi ıbout 3 along both the t/U and density...

Variational Approach to Finite-temperature Magnetism in the Degenerate Narrow Bands

The variational approach which describes the local electron correlations at finite temperatures has been extended to the degenerate-band case. It reduces Tc in the static approximation by a factor of two, gives realistic Tc between the observed value Tc (Obs) and 2Tc (Obs) , and suppresses the temperature independent charge fluctuation in Fe and Ni. The finite-temperature theories of magnetism ...
