The slow and infraslow oscillations of cortical neural network

چکیده
Objective: In this study we investigated the properties of infraslow oscillations (ISOs) 60.05 Hz and delta frequency band in the patients during the epileptic discharges and in healthy persons who performed a variety of mental and physical tasks. Methods: The EEG signals were recorded on the subjects who were divided into three groups. In the first group were patients with global epileptic seizures, while in the second group were patients with focal epileptic seizures. In the third group were healthy volunteers who performed different mental and physical tasks. Results: By analyzing EEG data of epileptic patients, we showed that frequency peak exists at 1.5 Hz which is typical for general and focal epileptic seizures. In the type of general epileptic discharges the role of the slow rhythms at 0.05 Hz, was particularly pronounced and their origin was in fluctuations of cortical neural network. The properties of parameter spectral coherency of ISOs in healthy persons point to their important role in brain func-

Infraslow oscillations modulate excitability and interictal epileptic activity in the human cortex during sleep.
Human cortical activity has been intensively examined at frequencies ranging from 0.5 Hz to several hundred Hz. Recent studies have, however, reported also infraslow fluctuations in neuronal population activity, magnitude of electroencephalographic oscillations, discrete sleep events, as well as in the occurrence of interictal events. Here we use direct current electroencephalography to demonst...
متن کاملVery slow EEG fluctuations predict the dynamics of stimulus detection and oscillation amplitudes in humans.
Our ability to perceive weak signals is correlated among consecutive trials and fluctuates slowly over time. Although this "streaking effect" has been known for decades, the underlying neural network phenomena have remained largely unidentified. We examined the dynamics of human behavioral performance and its correlation with infraslow (0.01-0.1 Hz) fluctuations in ongoing brain activity. Full-...
متن کاملA neural mass model of CA1-CA3 neural network and studying sharp wave ripples
We spend one third of our life in sleep. The interesting point about the sleep is that the neurons are not quiescent during sleeping and they show synchronous oscillations at different regions. Especially sharp wave ripples are observed in the hippocampus. Here, we propose a simple phenomenological neural mass model for the CA1-CA3 network of the hippocampus considering the spike frequency adap...

Identification and tracking of solar coronal loops is key to understanding solar magnetic field. Slow and fast Magnetohydrodynamic oscillation of tracked loops from sequence 171Å extreme ultra – violet images was detected. The method was demonstrated using 171Å images taken by SDO/AIA on 14 August 2010 and 20 January 2012. Two dimensional continuous wavelet transform (CWT) was used to clarify ...
متن کاملInfraslow EEG activity modulates cortical excitability in postanoxic encephalopathy.
Infraslow activity represents an important component of physiological and pathological brain function. We study infraslow activity (<0.1 Hz) in 41 patients with postanoxic coma after cardiac arrest, including the relationship between infraslow activity and EEG power in the 3-30 Hz range, using continuous full-band scalp EEG. In all patients, infraslow activity (0.015-0.06 Hz) was present, irres...
