Simple Method for Predicting a Cable Shielding Factor, Based on Transfer Impedance
نویسنده
چکیده
F or a shielded cable, an approximate relationship valid from few kHz up to the first cable resonance can be derived from its Transfer Impedance (Zt ) allowing to predict the cable shielding factor. This Cable Shielding factor, as a figure of merit, is often preferred by engineers dealing with product specifications and early design. Being not necessarily EMC specialists, they can relate it directly to the overall shielding performance required for a system boxes or cabinets. This article comes up with very simple, practical formulas, that directly express the cable shielding factor Kr, given its Zt and frequency.

A Simplified Relationship between Surface Transfer Impedance and Mode Stirred Chamber Shielding Effectiveness of Cables and Connectors
The relationship between surface transfer impedance and stirred mode chamber shielding effectiveness proposed by Eicher and Boillot has been simplified. This simplified relationship was used to compare the measured stirred mode chamber shielding effectiveness of nine shielding artifacts with the shielding effectiveness of the same samples calculated from transfer impedance measurements made at ...
متن کاملAnalysis and Experimental Evaluation of Power Line Transmission Parameters for Power Line Communication
The article describes a way of evaluating the power line channel frequency response and input impedance by means of the linear time-invariant (LTI) power line generator. Two possible methods are introduced for the calculation of primary parameters: the first method depends on the physical realization and physical dimension of the cable, and the second method is derived from the data provided by...

متن کاملShielding Effectiveness of a Lossy Metallic Enclosure
In this paper, shielding effectiveness (SE) of a perforated enclosure with imperfectly conducting walls is evaluated. To this end, first, an accurate numerical technique based on method of Moments (MoM) ispresented. In this method, lossy metallic walls of the enclosure are replaced by equivalent electric surfacecurrent sources. Then, the impedance boundary condition on the imperfectly conductin...
متن کاملCable Noise in Impedance Measurements by Scott A. Denenberg Thesis
This thesis focuses on the analysis of cable noise in impedance measurements. Specifically, the focus is on cables being developed for embedded sensing applications. In many applications, such as torque sensing and embedded fatigue and corrosion sensing, it is not feasible to have the probe electronics unit in close proximity to the material under test (MUT). Therefore, a cabling system is nece...
