Dialog System for Open-Ended Conversation Using Web Documents
نویسندگان
چکیده
We have developed a new type of open-ended dialog system that generates proper responses to users' utterances using the abundant documents available on the World Wide Web as sources. Existing knowledge-based dialog systems provide meaningful information to users, but they are unsuitable for open-ended input. The system Eliza, while it can handle open-ended input, gives no meaningful information. Our system lies between the above two dialog systems; it can converse on various topics and gives meaningful information related to the user's utterances. The system selects an appropriate sentence as a response from documents gathered through the Web on the basis of surface cohesion and shallow semantic coherence. We developed a trial system to converse about movies and experimentally found that the proposed method generated appropriate responses at a rate of 66%.

Personalization in Goal-Oriented Dialog
The main goal of modelling human conversation is to create agents which can interact with people in both open-ended and goal-oriented scenarios. End-to-end trained neural dialog systems are an important line of research for such generalized dialog models as they do not resort to any situation-specific handcrafting of rules. Modelling personalization of conversation in such agents is important f...

Spoken dialog systems interpret a user's request and engage in conversation if the need arises. It is the responsibility of the dialogmanager to determine if this need is present and how to proceed. Our spoken dialog system is constructed to su ciently understand a user's response to the open-ended prompt 'How may I help you?' in order to route a caller to an appropriate destination, with subse...

متن کاملGoal-driven approach to open-ended dialogue management using BDI agents
We describe a BDI (Belief, Desire, Intention) approach and architecture for a conversational virtual companion embodied as a child’s Toy. Our aim is to support both structured conversation-based activities (e.g., story-telling, collaborative games) as well as more free-flowing, engaging dialogue with variation and some unpredictability. We argue that a goal-oriented approach to the agent’s conv...
متن کاملScript-description Pair Extraction from Text Documents of English as Second Language Podcast
One of the best effective way to learn a language is having a conversation with a native speaker. However it is often very expensive way. A good alternative way is using Dialog-Based Computer Assisted Language Learning (DB-CALL) systems. The feedback quality in DB-CALL systems is very important. Therefore, to provide various expressions as feedback information, we propose a method which extract...
