A step-up test procedure to find the minimum effective dose.

چکیده
It is of great interest to find the minimum effective dose (MED) in dose-response studies. A sequence of decreasing null hypotheses to find the MED is formulated under the assumption of nondecreasing dose response means. A step-up multiple test procedure that controls the familywise error rate (FWER) is constructed based on the maximum likelihood estimators for the monotone normal means. When the MED is equal to one, the proposed test is uniformly more powerful than Hsu and Berger's test (1999). Also, a simulation study shows a substantial power improvement for the proposed test over four competitors. Three R-codes are provided in Supplemental Materials for this article. Introduction: Polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS) is one of the most common cause of infertility in women. clomiphene is the first line of treatment. however 20% of patients are resistant to clomiphene. because of follicular hypersensitivity to gonadotropins in pcod, multiple follicular growth and development occurs which is cause of OHSS and multiple pregnancy. Our aim of this random and clinical ...
متن کاملAn Algorithm to Estimate Monotone Normal Means and its Application to Identify the Minimum Effective Dose
In the standard setting of one-way ANOVA with normal errors, a new algorithm, called the Step Down Maximum Mean Selection Algorithm (SDMMSA), is proposed to estimate the treatment means under an assumption that the treatment mean is nondecreasing in the factor level. We prove that i) the SDMMSA and the Pooled Adjacent Violator Algorithm (PAVA), a widely used algorithm in many problems, generate...
متن کاملAn Effective EOS Based Modeling Procedure for Minimum Miscibility Pressure in Miscible Gas Injection
The measurement of the minimum miscibility pressure (MMP) is one of the most important steps in the project design of miscible gas injection for which several experimental and modeling methods have been proposed. On the other hand, the standard procedure for compositional studies of miscible gas injection process is the regression of EOS to the conventional PVT tests. Moreover, this procedure d...
متن کاملNonparametric identification of the minimum effective dose.
We consider identifying the minimum effective dose (MED) in a dose-response study, where the MED is defined to be the lowest dose level producing an effect over that of the zero-dose control. Proposed herein is a nonparametric procedure based on the Mann-Whitney statistic incorporated with the step-down closed testing scheme. A numerical example demonstrates the feasibility of the proposed nonp...
متن کاملMINIMUM TIME SWING UP AND STABILIZATION OF ROTARY INVERTED PENDULUM USING PULSE STEP CONTROL
This paper proposes an approach for the minimum time swing upof a rotary inverted pendulum. Our rotary inverted pendulum is supported bya pivot arm. The pivot arm rotates in a horizontal plane by means of a servomotor. The opposite end of the arm is instrumented with a joint whose axisis along the radial direction of the motor. A pendulum is suspended at thejoint. The task is to design a contro...
