The EEG correlates of cerebellar fits.

چکیده
16911, the term cerebellar fit is generally associated with the classical description of John Hughlings Jackson in 18712 of a five-year-old boy with a cerebellar abscess and tetanus-like episodes. Cerebellar fits consist of headaches, alteration of consciousness, rigid extensor posturing of the extremities with stiffness of the trunk and eventually respiratory compromise and death3. It is now known that cerebellar fits are associated with various entities, including tumor of the posterior fossa, encephalitis, acute hypoxia, herniation and any cause of sudden increase in intracranial pressure. The exact pathogenesis of these spells is still controversial: initially, cerebellar fits were considered an ictal phenomenon, but others suggested they

Brain Functional Correlates of Intelligence Score in ADHD Based on EEG
Introduction: It has been shown that intelligence as a general mental ability is related to the structure and function of the brain regions. However, the specificity of these regional dependencies to the intelligence scores in the typical and atypical developed individuals needs to be well understood. In this study, we hypothesized that neural correlates of IQ should not have a fixed pattern ra...
متن کاملNeural Correlates of Boredom in Music Perception
Introduction: Music can elicit powerful emotional responses, the neural correlates of which have not been properly understood. An important aspect about the quality of any musical piece is its ability to elicit a sense of excitement in the listeners. In this study, we investigated the neural correlates of boredom evoked by music in human subjects. Methods: We used EEG recording in nine sub...
متن کاملSex Differences in the Cerebellum and its Correlates with Some Body Traits in the African Grasscutter (Thryonomys swinderianus – Temminck, 1827): Morphometric Study
Introduction: Sexual dimorphisms in biological structures such as brain and behaviour have been widely recognized in animals and humans. The purpose of this study was to examine whether there are sex differences in the size of the cerebellum with other body traits, such as the head, tail and brain. Methods: Twelve grasscutters comprising of 6 males and 6 females were used in this study. Each b...
متن کاملA Pilot Study on the Effects of Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation on Brain Rhythms and Entropy during Self-Paced Finger Movement using the Epoc Helmet
Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) of the cerebellum is emerging as a novel non-invasive tool to modulate the activity of the cerebellar circuitry. In a single blinded study, we applied anodal tDCS (atDCS) of the cerebellum to assess its effects on brain entropy and brain rhythms during self-paced sequential finger movements in a group of healthy volunteers. Although wearable electr...
متن کاملExploring Neural Correlates of Different Dimensions in Drug Craving Self-Reports among Heroin Dependents
Introduction: Drug craving could be described as a motivational state which drives drug dependents towards drug seeking and use. Different types of self-reports such as craving feeling, desire and intention, wanting and need, imagery of use, and negative affect have been attributed to this motivational state. By using subjective self-reports for different correlates of drug craving along ...
