Belief Change: from Situation Calculus to Modal Logic
نویسنده
چکیده
We propose a translation into Modal Logic of the ideas that formalise belief change in the Situation Calculus. This translation is extended to the case of revision. In the conclusion is presented a set of open issues.

Theories of Intentions in the Framework of Situation Calculus
We propose an extension of action theories to intention theories in the framework of situation calculus. Moreover the method for implementing action theories is adapted to consider the new components. The intention theories take account of the BDI (Belief-Desire-Intention) architecture. In order to avoid the computational complexity of theorem proving in modal logic, we explore an alternative a...
متن کاملSituation Calculus as Hybrid Logic: First Steps
The situation calculus, originally conceived by John McCarthy, is one of the main representation languages in artificial intelligence. The original papers introducing the situation calculus also highlight the connection between the fields of artificial intelligence and philosophical logic (especially modal logics of belief, knowledge, and tense). Modal logic changed enormously since the 60s. Th...
متن کاملProjection in the Epistemic Situation Calculus with Belief Conditionals
A fundamental task in reasoning about action and change is projection, which refers to determining what holds after a number of actions have occurred. A powerful method for solving the projection problem is regression, which reduces reasoning about the future to reasoning about the initial state. In particular, regression has played an important role in the situation calculus and its epistemic ...
متن کاملA Semantic Account of Iterated Belief Revision in the Situation Calculus
Recently Shapiro et al. explored the notion of iterated belief revision within Reiter’s version of the situation calculus. In particular, they consider a notion of belief defined as truth in the most plausible situations. To specify what an agent is willing to believe at different levels of plausibility they make use of so-called belief conditionals, which themselves neither refer to situations...
متن کاملImplementing Belief Change in the Situation Calculus and an Application
Accounts of belief and knowledge in the Situation Calculus have been developed and discussed for some time yet there is no extant implementation. We develop a practical implementation of belief and belief change in the Situation Calculus based on default logic for which we have an implemented solver. After establishing the mapping with default logic we demonstrate how belief change in the Situa...
