چکیده

FALLOT'S tetralogy is a condition of cyanotic congenital heart disease associated with pulmonary stenosis and a ventricular septal defect. The right ventricular hypertrophy and overriding aorta are probably a result of the altered hemodynamics. The essential features of the condition are cyanosis, pulmonary stenosis and a ventricular septal defect. Consequently, the so-called Trilogy of Fallot is excluded from consideration since these cases have no ventricular septal defect. Further, the term is misleading and should be dropped. Cases of ventricular septal defect with mild pulmonary stenosis and no cyanosis at rest or on exertion are also excluded from consideration under the definition presented above. Finally, the term Pentalogy of Fallot provides no useful information. This condition is better known as Fallot's tetralogy with an additional atrial septal defect.

[Aortic origin of the left pulmonary artery in an infant with Fallot's tetralogy].

We report the case of a male neonate who had a prenatal diagnosis of Fallot's tetralogy. He presented with respiratory distress during the second week of life. Chest x-ray showed an enlarged right ventricle and pulmonary edema. Echocardiography demonstrated characteristic features of Fallot's tetralogy. However, cardiac catheterization disclosed that, in this case of Fallot's tetralogy, the lef...

Aneurysm of the Pulmonary Artery in Fallot's Tetralogy

INTRODUCTION Pulmonary artery aneurysms are a rare entity. Etiologies of these findings are multiple, but they are exceptionally associated with Fallot's Tetralogy. In this study, we present an unusual case of an important aneurysm of the left pulmonary artery associated with Fallot's Tetralogy disease. CASE PRESENTATION A 30-year-old woman has been admitted for dyspnea and cyanosis. The data...

The angiocardiogram in Fallot's tetralogy.

While the principal angiocardiographic features of the tetralogy of Fallot have been listed by many authors, the number of cases described in detail or illustrated is relatively small. Recently Dotter and Steinberg (1951) reviewing the subject emphasized the need for further observations with necropsy control in cyanotic congenital heart disease. A final clinical diagnosis of Fallot's tetralogy...

Aortic regurgitation from infective endocarditis in Fallot's tetralogy and pulmonary atresia.

Three cases of aortic regurgitation acquired as the result of bacterial endocarditis complicating Fallot's tetralogy and pulmonary atresia have been described. One also had mitral regurgitation from a 'jet lesion' of the anterior cusp of the mitral valve. Surgical treatment of all abnormalities with aortic valve repair or replacement was undertaken in each patient and was successful in two. Dif...
