Well-Differentiated Thymic Epithelial Neoplasms (Thymoma)

چکیده
(atypical thymoma); and those showing total loss of the organotypical features of the thymus and displaying overt cytologic evidence of malignancy correspond to high-grade or poorly differentiated thymic epithelial neoplasms (also designated, by convention, thymic carcinoma) (2,4). The grading is based on a combination of architectural and cytological parameters as observed on routine microscopy on hematoxylin-eosin—stained slides, and does not require the use of special stains or other ancillary techniques.

Posterolateral thoracotomy Approach for an Ectopic Mediastinum Thymoma: A Case Report
Thymic epithelial neoplasms are commonly aetiology of the anterior mediastinum masses in adults. It represents 20–30% of all mediastinal tumours in adults. Ectopic thymomas usually affect the neck, mediastinal compartments, lung, and pleura, arising from aberrant thymic tissue. For giant thymoma, there is still no consensus on the surgical approach. We herein report a patient with a giant thym...

Thymoma is a term that should be restricted to neoplasms of thymic epithelial cells, irrespective of the presence or the number of lymphocytes. The usual location of thymoma is the antrosuperior mediastinum; however, this tumor can also occur in other mediastinal compartments, in the neck, within the thyroid gland, in the pericardial cavity, the pulmonary hilum, within the lung parenchyma, o...

We read the article titled “Thymic Carcinoma: Current Staging Does Not Predict Prognosis” by Blumberg and associates of Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (J Thorac Cardiovasc Surg 1998;115:303-9). Thymic carcinomas in this article consisted of type II malignant thymoma 1 and well-differentiated thymic carcinoma. 2 Our Nagoya City University series of thymic carcinoma consisted of 19 patients treate...

Background: Thymomas are rare epithelial tumors arising from thymus gland. This study aims at investigating the clinical presentation, prognostic factors and treatment outcome of forty five patients with thymoma and thymic carcinoma. Methods: Forty-five patients being histologically diagnosed with thymoma or thymic carcinoma that were treated and followed-up at a tertiary academic hospital duri...
متن کاملPathologic Finding of Thymic Carcinoma Accompanied by Myasthenia Gravis
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The World Health Organization (WHO) has classified thymic carcinoma and other thymomas (types A, AB, and B) as different neoplasms. Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an early sign of thymoma and theoretically does not accompany thymic carcinoma; however, cases of thymic carcinoma with MG have been reported. Whether thymic carcinoma can accompany MG has yet to be established. ME...
