Finite Element Analysis of Stress Distribution in the Cast Clasps, Direct Retainers of a Removable Partial Denture
نویسندگان
چکیده
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the stress distribution in the critical components of the removable partial denture the cast clasps. Materials andmethod:The three-dimensional models of the clasps were generated using three-dimensional measurements and investigated during loading, using the finite element stress analysis. Results:Although the loading influences the stressdistribution andstress levels, considerable valueswere alwaysobserved in the clasp arms, close to the junctionwith thebody of the clasp. Themaximum stress recorded in all cases was between 310.27MPa and 404.74MPa, below the ductile Yield of the Co-Cr alloy (700MPa). Conclusion:With the use of a properly designed removable partial denture, themagnitude and distribution of the stress in the cast clasps are within the normal limits.

Optimization Techniques of the Cast Clasps Retention
Cast clasps retention is essential for maintaining and stabilizing a removable partial denture (RPD). When and where this retention is inadequate, there are a series of optimization methods to use, depending on the etiology of retention faults. Dental cast clasps optimization with the purpose of increase the mechanical resistance of the removable partial dentures and their long life was studied...
متن کاملFractures of clasp-retained partial dentures.
Fractures of cast clasps are practically irreparable and impaire both thera peutic and prophylactic value of partial dentures. On purpose to explain causes of this rather frequently occuring damage, examination of fracture surface with optical and electronic microscopes and assessment of stress in the retainers were carried out. Microscopic examinationes comprised fracture surfaces of 30 cast ...
متن کاملStress Distribution in Natural Tooth and Implant Supported Removable Partial Denture with Different Attachment Types: A Photoelastic Analysis
Background and Aim: Different attachment designs have been developed to connect implant to natural teeth in partial dentures; however, adequate studies have not been performed to determine stress distribution patterns in these designs. The present study aimed to assess stress distribution patterns in natural tooth and implant supported removable partial denture with different attachment designs...

In Present study a digital model of hemimaxillectomy was reconstructed by computer and stress distribution of removable partial dentures in tissues, periodontal ligament and bone were thoroughly evaluated. The maximum stress of two different removable partial denture designs which contained buccal and lingual c-shaped clasps respectively were analyzed and compared. It was assumed that a 90 gram...
متن کاملFinite element method analysis of the stress distribution to supporting tissues in a Class IV Aramany removable partial denture (Part I: the teeth and periodontal ligament).
AIM Special care is required in the fabrication of a Class IV Aramany removable partial denture (RPD) in order to minimize the stress distribution to supporting tissues. Using the finite element method, the aim of this study was to analyze the distribution stress to supporting tissues when a Class IV Aramany RPD is worn. METHODS AND MATERIALS Three RPD designs with circumferential cast retain...
