چکیده

Hybrid systems combine discrete event and continuous time dynamics and can serve as models of large scale systems We provide an overview of modeling analysis and controller synthesis techniques for hybrid systems A modeling language for describing a wide class of hybrid phenomena is rst presented and conditions for existence and uniqueness of executions are provided We then discuss analysis problems and characterize a class of hybrid systems for which reachability questions can be veri ed automatically Finally we review a method for designing controllers for hybrid systems with reachability speci cations

Probabilistic safety and optimal control for survival analysis of Bacillus subtilis

This work investigates the problem of determining switching conditions for the production of the lantibiotic subtilin by Bacillus subtilis. These conditions are synthesized as the outcome of an optimal control problem based on a survival analysis interpretation. The problem is built upon the general modeling framework of stochastic hybrid systems, by translating the survival analysis into a pro...

An Approach to the Verification of the Center-TRACON Automation System

The Center-TRACON Automation System (CTAS) is a collection of planning and control software functions that generate landing schedules and advisories to assist air traac controllers in handling traac in the en-route and terminal areas. In this paper, we propose a formal safety analysis methodology to determine the correctness of CTAS with respect to safety. Four large classes of safety notions a...
