چکیده

A set o f questionnaires was prepared to compare four elicitation methods: point esthnation, bzterval estflnation, membership function exemplification, and pairwise comparison. Technical and nontechnical topics were involved, assuming subjects performed either as measurenlent instruments or as repositories o f knowledge. The advantages, disadvantages, and limitations of each method are discussed on the basis o f the evaluation of the answers given by 22 professors and graduate students. The analysis o f the results presented herein is extended in Part 11, where trends in fuzziness are discussed. Both Parts I and H are oriented toward practical applications.

The generation of fuzzy sets and the~construction of~characterizing functions of~fuzzy data

Measurement results contain different kinds of uncertainty. Besides systematic errors andrandom errors individual measurement results are also subject to another type of uncertainty,so-called emph{fuzziness}. It turns out that special fuzzy subsets of the set of real numbers $RR$are useful to model fuzziness of measurement results. These fuzzy subsets $x^*$ are called emph{fuzzy numbers}. The m...

Exponential membership function and duality gaps for I-fuzzy linear programming problems

Fuzziness is ever presented in real life decision making problems. In this paper, we adapt the pessimistic approach tostudy a pair of linear primal-dual problem under intuitionistic fuzzy (I-fuzzy) environment and prove certain dualityresults. We generate the duality results using exponential membership and non-membership functions to represent thedecision maker’s satisfaction and dissatisfacti...

A NOTE ON EVALUATION OF FUZZY LINEAR REGRESSION MODELS BY COMPARING MEMBERSHIP FUNCTIONS

Kim and Bishu (Fuzzy Sets and Systems 100 (1998) 343-352) proposeda modification of fuzzy linear regression analysis. Their modificationis based on a criterion of minimizing the difference of the fuzzy membershipvalues between the observed and estimated fuzzy numbers. We show that theirmethod often does not find acceptable fuzzy linear regression coefficients andto overcome this shortcoming, pr...

Measurement of Membership Functions: Theoretical and Empirical Work

This chapter presents a review of various interpretations of the fuzzy membership function together with ways of obtaining a membership function. We emphasize that different interpretations of the membership function call for different elicitation methods. We try to make this distinction clear using techniques from measurement theory. 3.

A fuzzy multi-objective model for a project management problem

In this research, the multi-objective project management decision problem with fuzzy goals and fuzzy constraints are considered. We constitute α-cut approach and two various fuzzy goal programming solution methods for solving the Multi-Objective Project Management (MOPM) decision problem under fuzzy environments. The Interactive fuzzy multi-objective linear programming (i-FMOLP) and Weighted Ad...
