Transfer for primary angioplasty: the importance of time.
نویسنده
چکیده
Primary angioplasty offers benefits as compared with fibrinolysis for many patients with acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).1 This superiority of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in trials has led to the investigation of transfer strategies that would make PCI more widely available. Such a strategy would regionalize care and divert patients with STEMI to centers with PCI capability. The clinical cost of such a strategy in terms of time requires investigation.

The effect of primary nursing care on the patients’ perception of nursing care behavior after coronary angioplasty
Background & Aim: Cardiovascular diseases, especially coronary artery disease, are one of the most common causes of death worldwide. Recently, coronary intervention through the skin has been used for treatment, which has significantly reduced mortality rates. Nursing care behavior is of special importance in reducing the complications of angioplasty. The purpose of this study was to determine t...
متن کاملThe Effect of Primary Angioplasty and Drug Therapy in Elderly Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome
Background & Aims: The aging of the population has caused an increase in the number of elderly people who receive treatment for cardiovascular disease. The prevalence of coronary artery disease is higher in the elderly, and on the other hand, complications after cardiac events are worse in the elderly. The most common cause of death in the elderly is cardiovascular disease. Rapid restoration of...

Background: The incidence of restenosis in patients suffering from coronary artery disease after undergoing angioplasty is of paramount importance. Accordingly, this study aimed to investigate factors affecting the time of the first incidence of restenosis in patients undergone angioplasty in the city of Zanjan, Iran. Methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted on 421 patie...
متن کاملTransfer for primary angioplasty: time is important.
Time is Important To the Editor: Dalby et al1 have produced a meta-analysis on the transfer of patients for primary angioplasty versus non-transfer thrombolysis in acute myocardial infarction. Their conclusion from a collaboration of 6 papers is that primary angioplasty is the optimal method of treatment, rather than local thrombolytic therapy, despite delays in transfer times to tertiary refer...
متن کامل[Importance of time delay in selecting reperfusion therapy].
In its day, in the 1980s, fibrinolysis represented an important qualitative change in the treatment of acute infarction offering an active therapeutic alternative to the traditional “wait and see” approach.1,2 Later, in the 1990s, the benefits of pharmacologic reperfusion were surpassed by primary angioplasty.3 Several randomized studies showed mechanical reperfusion, while reducing the risk of...
